Actually, that was just the beginning... my addiction to finland bands increased as the years passed by. I've also developed a kind of fanatism for Tarja, which got me to get a winged Tarja tattooed on my skin. Luckily, I was able to meet her and speak with her a little bit.
Loving Finland ain't difficult if you like metal; all metal subgenres have some finnish bands between on the top: Sonata, Children, Celesty, Amberian Dawn, Battlelore, Northern Kings, For My Pain, To/Die/For, Him, Crimfall, Korpilkaani, Ensiferum, Finntroll and Moonsorrow <3 omg!
-i'm pretty sure I'm forgetting a lot of bands, but these I've named have been a big part of my last eight years aprox.-

I really like a band called Indica from Finland too, do they qualify as pop-rock, maybe? Anyways, they rock!

Wow, a true fan then! And also managed to speak to her... well that's something. Too bad they broke up :C Though, I still like the new Nightwish too. It is different but they didn't even have the intention to make it similar to Tarja's times. Both are good. Both are different although they are the same band.

And I am surprised, a bit, that you know Amberian Dawn and Battlelore And Indica... well I guess you could say they are a pop-rock. I like them really much too, at least more of their first releases and don't like that much about the english version, though it's not bad but it takes the edge of the music, me thinks. And Sonata Arctica was my first metal band I listened to. Now it has kid of changed to Eluveitie, Sabaton, Ensiferum and ah, Turisas <3 I think Insomnium is also rising on my list soon. Oh well. So many nice things X3

And welcome to the Finland when you do! I suggest you pick up a summer and the time when either Tuska or Sauna Open Air are going.

About new and old Nightwish, I have the same thoughts: they have the same name but are different bands, both good. I think I prefer the music they did until Once album (which is also very good, but not that magical).

Concerning Amberian Dawn, I came across their song Valkyries by pure luck since I was searching for another band. I listened to it and it blew my mind, I loved it and it got me to The River of Tuoni which, ofc, I also loved. It was difficult for me to get another album from them so that's the only one I've squeezed.

I don't know what it is about Indica, but it's so emotionally catchy. A friend of mine told me about her fascination for this band and I asked her for a random song. The first song I listened was Vuorien Taa, and then the hole Tuuliset Tienoot album. I loved it and asked for more, so she gave me Ikuinen Virta which is hell of an album (meaning freaking awesome!), I loved every single song (except maybe Aaltojen Takaa XD). So far I had loved 99% of their songs, and once I had listened to those two albums for a thousand time, I went straight to Valoissa and Kadonnut Puutarha. Loved both.
So that's my experiene with Indica, those four albums have been part of my life. I've also made some mini-"missheard lyrics" with indica's songs XD

And will make a pause here, because if we're gonna talk about Sonata Arctica (my bible) I wanna splash. Can we continue this dialogue by private/notes?
