Hey, I saw your profile, saying you wanted to be better at drawing: if you send me a Note I'll drop a train's worth of references on you.
From what I can tell you need some help on your structure work; you're relying too much on clothes to lend shape and direction. You're using more simplified anime to noodle out where everything goes, am I right? In any case, I think you need to work off more graphic, anatomically accurate examples before you can deconstruct them. I think this really is just a classic case of putting the cart before the horse. Once you figure out the bones and muscle groups you'll be able to reinterpret them into more minimalistic or exaggerated, expressionistic forms. www.pinterest.com/pin/80100748… www.pinterest.com/pin/66639269… www.pinterest.com/pin/54768000… ;
My advice?
Try the old school '80's animes like:

Thank you for the references! I have a folder with nearly a thousand references, but hey I'm always a slut for more.
I thank you for the criticism, every little bit helps. And thank you for taking the time to link all the references and write this up; honestly gg.
But concerning, "In any case, I think you need to work off more graphic, anatomically accurate examples before you can deconstruct them. I think this really is just a classic case of putting the cart before the horse." In any other instance, I would completely agree with such drawing advice but I've always used a 'bottoms up' technique rather than the 'tops down' one you imply. Even when I first started to learn.
And I feel as though this discounts the strides I've made since I added the digital aspect to my art.
Honestly, I've never really had a significant difficulty with anatomy (save for the occasional problems with hands and feet). This issue that has always affected me (even years ago before I even knew enough about drawing for it to even be on my top 10 issues). Was and really is depth. Being able to imply depth within my art is probably my current biggest issue.
In relation to "You're using more simplified anime to noodle out where everything goes, am I right?" Nope.
I feel as though when it comes to my art I've finally reached an intermediate stage in my skill. I finally feel confident in my knowledge of the basics that I can start focusing on fine honing my skills.

Fair enough. Here: codyrush.deviantart.com/journa… Send me a Note if you want more.
GG? Good going?
Interesting. Since the head is the classic measuring stick, everyone usually starts there to get the proportions right. Personally I start with the pelvis and then the rib cage, and then the chest/breasts; and then the arms, and then, finally, the neck and head. The legs and feet are usually the last things I do (because feet are frustrating to draw): so, I guess I sort of start the way you do, bottoms up, but not really. The pelvis is the axis of the body, it informs most of its movement more than the chest of arms. You've probably seen a million animes with the classic "Kid Goku" run: legs kicking high in front, arms thrust backwards. Where the pelvis goes the whole body follows, whether it likes it or not; so, I start there.

GG is gamer colloquium meaning 'Goog Game', usually as a term of endearment. Lol, I feel ya. I usually start with the head and then just do a general skeletal outline; fill in from there.

Bernin's 'David' is my favorite sculpture. www.pinterest.com/pin/47421503… ;

I just look at that sculpture, and think, 'Now there's a kid about to get shit done!'
If you asked me who my favorite animator was I'd say, hands down, Don Bluth.

It's amazing what Bernini accomplished without photography. I think he'd be even more amazed, though, if he saw what fantastic strides the world's made in art.

I wish Bernini and Mike could see their legacy in us.
