It was the very first book of Jodiβs that I read. I think I was 15 at that time. My mother recommended it to me. It was the first book I read that featured first person POV from multiple characters, and I loved it. Much later, I even wrote my Bachelorβs thesis on the translation of double entendre in two of Jodiβs books ^_^

Nineteen minutes seems to be the most βthoroughβ of her books. Reading it, I felt that every aspect of the problem that could potentially be addressed has been addressed. Up to the letter that Peter received in jail. I remember being very satisfied when I finished it. Definitely one of the most impressive ones in the collection.
I feel that Jodi is capable of painting full-fledged characters in a few words. A couple of times, I found myself liking the opposing lawyer (in Perfect Match and Salem Falls β those were such enjoyable-to-read characters, the prosecutors). Β
After a while, Jodiβs books become a bit predictable β she obviously has a pattern when it comes to trials and moral issues β but itβs still a good read.Β

If you liked My Sisterβs Keeper β which features a family with a disabled child, a neglected sibling, and a trial β then the most similar ones to this would be House Rules (boy with Aspergerβs obsessed with forensics is accused of murdering his tutor) and Handle With Care (parents of a girl with brittle bone disease sue their OBGyn to give her a comfortable life).
If you prefer books that do not follow Jodiβs usual pattern β the most non-standard one is Second Glance (guy struggling with belovedβs death tracks ghosts and discovers secrets about prosecutions of Native Americans many years prior).
If youβd like a book where a character commits a crime, but for the right reasons β like in Nineteen Minutes β try Perfect Match (woman kills pedophile β this one features Patrick Ducharme from Nineteen Minutes), Mercy (guy kills his wife, who is dying of cancer and asked him to do it), or Tenth Circle (girl accuses her ex-boyfriend of rape, he denies, trial happens).
If you ask for my personal favorites β I have a hard time picking, but Iβd say Sing You Home, Small Great Things and A Spark of Light β the most recent ones β were satisfying. Not as much as Nineteen Minutes, but they were very thorough. I also quite liked Salem Falls. Β
If you are looking for a different author than Jodi, I most definitely recommend Khaled Hosseini β the guy who wrote the Kite Runner and a Thousand Splendid Suns. Amazing books showing the life in Afghanistan, with vivid descriptions and gracefully presented cultural elements. Reading him is like learning culture and history through plot and character interactions in an engaging family saga. I canβt recommend him enough.

You are welcome ^_^. It feels good to support the authors I like. Also, Jodi has an official website. It has extracts from all of her novels, new on the upcoming novel, and some other stuff:Β www.jodipicoult.com/

I'm afraid you posting this coincided with my very emotionally demanding and staining family time. I honestly can't think of anything appropriate to say. Sorry. And thanks.

Okay. I've had a period of addiction to a bubble shooter, but it's cooling down. I also turned 30 last month and went to London to see the musicals Wicked and Hamilton to celebrate the occassion. So yeah, I'd say I'm doing well ^_^ Thank you for asking.

A game in which ou shoot colorful bubbles/balls against a mass of other colorsful bubbles/balls. When you get 3 of the same color together, they pop/disappear. Every now and then new bubbles appear. You have to clear them all. The one I currently play is called Bubble Cloud, and I like it, because it has the bubbles grouped around a circle in the middle of the screen, instead of dropping from the top.
