And thank you! It can be difficult. For a long time, I hated thicker lines, but then I found thin lines didn't work too well, at all. A lot of the lineart I do these days is initially drawn thinner, then I go over it again to thicken in. >__<
And my chickens are a mixed bunch! Mostly Isa Browns and Silkies.

MY line work is very sketchy, I never draw a single clean line and I find tracing over my finished sketches really kills it. I only ever do finished traced lines for my chibis. I should buckle down and practice >.<
I may have to drop my prices v.v W'ell see.
I actually just lost two hens yesterday to a fox attack. The coop is in mourning. And also confined to their pens so they're all vocal and angry and want out.

Are you finding that a problem with digital art or just in general? Because if you're using a tablet, I found it took quite a long time to get used to, and pressure sensitivity settings may not always be correctly set. ;; If overall, all I can suggest is doing some mock linearts and playing around with thickness and keeping a steady hand. I often lift my hand during linearts, I start off pretty slow with the primary line, at least keeping the nib down for a few seconds, then taking a break, it's just making sure you can keep the line connecting that helps.
I also went and had a look at your newest stuff. Even if it's sketchy, it still looks very nice (I'd say you have a greater understanding of anatomy than I do xD).
And goodness, it's always a shock when that happens. ;; What types do you keep?
People always act like animals don't notice but, they do... especially with such social creatures. I had an irresponsible neighbour's dogs come and attack my 20 odd flock and my little group of growing peeps a few years back and I'm still very shocked about it. |: Of about 30-something chickens I had three chicks survive because they'd taken refuge in the bushes. I was absolutely traumatised when this happened, I literally kept my chicks inside and raised them indoors. My grandparents were the only ones that were vocal and angry though. xD;
I'm sorry to hear you've lost some of yours, though, it's a terrible thing to go through and it really does throw some pecking orders out of whack for a while. :\

I'm fairly well adjusted to my tablet. I've got just over a year of experience with it. It might be a touch sensitivity thing and not finding the right min-max size on the shape dynamics. I can do it for cartoons but for more realistic illustrations I think it just looks clunky and like I inked it with a drippy sharpie XD By hand I have o issue inking. I do pen and ink with water color paintings a lot! It's probably just something i have to work at. Its just a lot more time consuming to ink in digital than traditional for me and I tend to approach things from a painter stance. Oh this isn't wide enough, let me just ad a stroke of highlight. more practice.

I think my bigest hurdle is doing finished digital art. I don't think I've really finished something with a background yet. and I always want to upload doodles, wich are you know, never someones best work. So I end up with a portfolio of half assed thing sand then roll around on the floor crying. Ah, the life of the artist.
I keep a whole bunch of types. I have some new hampshire reds I rescued, some barnyard auracauna mixes (we've had this line of chickens for like 20 years here) and 5 new hens, each a different fancy breed. there's a seabright and a turkin and a couple sex linked. For once they wernt all torn up terribly when I found their bodies. That was a nice change. I lost another hen a month ago to a falcon too. Not a good spring. My alpha hen and my roosters only sibling were killed this time so the pecking order is all over the place. I also penned them up in a new safe run so there was lots of chasing and pecking each other today. And also moping. My rooster keeps calling for his sister.

As for BGs, I can point out some pretty great tutorials I used back in the day... not that I do backgrounds much idk it's just a laziness thing.

A messed up pecking order sucks, and I'm sorry to hear you have that happen. ;; We don't have birds of prey scanning our area, so our only threats are foxes, which never seem to happen, natural deaths or dog attacks (thanks neighbours :l).Β
