As for the tripod, you can find them pretty cheap if you go to a place like Ritz or Wolf, just a basic one is all you need to start with. Or if you want to make a homemade one, just fill a gallon plastic bag (or some bag of similar size that you can seal) with either beans or sand, maybe 3/4 full or so. It works in a pinch anyway
