JoBeeOne In reply to cggp [2009-05-02 13:21:50 +0000 UTC]

Thanks - you too. I'm such a rank amateur with a camera - have been shooting forever but I have a poor eye for composition. I only see what I want to see and cameras don't work that way. Glad you like my meager offerings though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cggp In reply to JoBeeOne [2009-05-03 17:13:12 +0000 UTC]

I think you should give yourself more credit as an artist, especially when it comes to photography. You clearly have a good eye for composition IMO, seems to come very natural or you. Keep it going

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoBeeOne In reply to cggp [2009-05-04 10:55:52 +0000 UTC]

Thank you - that is reassuring. I will still shoot hundreds of shots for each one I post but I think that is a good thing. Keeps me pushing. I guess having so many friends who are talented and professional photographers makes it a bit of a daunting prospect for me. Your encouragement means a lot.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cggp In reply to JoBeeOne [2009-05-04 11:58:25 +0000 UTC]

The way I see it, no artist should ever be 'satisfied' with their current level. I don't even think it's possible for an artist to truly feel that way, so it's natural we keep on pushing ourselves. I learned much from honest criticism and critiques on my works, so I have absolutely no problem doing the same.

Keep it going

JoBeeOne In reply to cggp [2009-05-05 09:45:30 +0000 UTC]

I totally agree. There is sometimes a time to stop on a piece (I see you did that recently) but no reason why you can't push. Usually when you come back to a piece after a break you can see ways to improve it. In digital media this is so much easier with layers etc. I still love traditional media but miss my undo button and will usually bring the work into Photoshop or Illustrator to finish anyway.
Still, I do it for the love of doing not to be loved for doing it. I still find drawing fun although it will be hard to find the time for a while - did a little bit today.

So... does it snow in Australia? New Zealand doesn't count. haha Thanks for the fav!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoBeeOne In reply to RxPhoto [2009-01-21 01:01:27 +0000 UTC]

Yes - we have a ski season and everything. I learned to ski here. We have mountains in the east that are in the states of New South Wales and Victoria - they get snow - it is a little wetter than the snow from central USA, Canada and Hokkaido, Japan but it is still white and cold etc. We also get snow on the island of Tasmania.
Anyhow, for a mostly desert country we do get our fair share of weather. Also you're welcome.

huh, learn something new every day... I guess I should have known but you never here anything about a winter scene from Australia. Cheers mate!

JoBeeOne In reply to RxPhoto [2009-01-22 02:36:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, true - but when I have been in the snow/resorts overseas they are full of Aussies. A nation of travellers that's for sure. Don't forget we have awesome beaches too. Plus we are far away from everything so a nice place to visit (our money is cheap).
Stay cool

Thinking about getting an Intuos3, funnily enough.

Hi Jo
As I am kinda new to Deviant, how do you set up an image in your 'Devious Information' header, like yours?
Muz

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoBeeOne In reply to muzski [2008-09-02 04:54:56 +0000 UTC]

You do it as a Deviant ID - information on this is in the DA faqs. I think it has to be a certain size, and when you upload it you have to chose Deviant ID as the category. Then when you go into your settings it becomes available as an image in the Deviant ID section. I hope that makes sense. It will also appear as a deviation.
Cheers
Jo
