any idea what you want to do?

KamikazeRae In reply to walkyourdog [2007-02-04 05:41:40 +0000 UTC]

Haha thanks! I'm really going to need it! xD Mmmmmm I'm not very productive either eversince I started at a boarding school.

I'm really aiming for Bachelor of Arts, and I want to major in Media. I'm praying for Usyd, while everyone's got their eyes on UNSW. I wanted to do Photography, but mehh you don't need to go to Uni to do photography, you know? I could just do a TAFE course or some other course and do freelance work with those skills. (: What've you been doing after the HSC? Besides jazzing up your dA.

walkyourdog In reply to KamikazeRae [2007-02-04 13:04:52 +0000 UTC]

boarding school? how exciting.
i got through to my first preference.
ha, its funny. from when uai came out till offers i thought i was doing arts media + communication at unsw(kind of similar to what your thinking), but then randomly i got offered liberal studies at usyd (i hadnt make the cut of by a couple of points so it came as a suprise...) so yeah, when i get back to australia im off to start that.
since exams finished i took 2 weeks off everything and did a lot of nothing. best time of my life. seeing friends... going out, doing recreational activities i hadnt done in ages. was pretty sweet. i went out to the country for a long weekend for a friends birthday which was awesome and worked a fair bit to save up money for travel.
mid decemeber i went to brazil (where i am now) with my mum and sister. tahiti and santiago were on the way so we spent a few nights in both places which was like... amazing. and today my mum and sister are going back to aus and im staying here for another 3 weeks for carnival on a bit of an independence streak.

choosing uni's is hard. well at least i found it hard. i had really wanted to go to unsw, usyd seemed too traditional and hoity toity for me. unsw's known for being more... shall we say open minded? and they have a huge international basis, their spanish course included latin american studies which i would of loved to do. but yeah.. thats the way things turned out and after thinking about it i figured liberal studies was a better option.

anyway, gotta run to the airport :S

I wouldn't say boarding school is great or anything, or exciting. It's pretty... mmmmeh I'm used to it already.

I'd heard that the UAC dudes have started looking at individual performances, instead of just your UAI. Which I think is great, so if you miss by 2-3 points, then you've still got hope! Mmmm I can't wait for schoolies. It's like the hot topic in every class. I can't believe everyone organises their trips (and everything involved) veryveryvery early in advance. I'm just going to go with the flow. A friend has invited me to her place in Jamberoo, so I'm going over there for a while. And then... hopefully I can earn some money, and experience before Speech night at the end of the year. Because I'm from Malaysia, I don't see the point in going back early Nov and coming back for graduation one month later.

Brazil and Tahiti and Santiago... Wow! It's so nice to just travel to different places when you've got all that time. I really hope to do that one year from now, before Uni. One thing I love about travelling to different, exotic places - millions of opportunities for the keen photographer! (;

I'd recently looked at the Bachelor of Digital Media, which sounds very fun to me at UNSW. I see what you mean about Usyd and how it's all traditional and... strict/straight in order and ideas. UNSW definately seems more flexible. (:

mmmm.
strange the way things work out.
yeah i missed out on schoolies... but i was very well compensated so i didnt really mind. you cant do everything i guess. still it would of been lots of fun so enjoy!

KamikazeRae In reply to walkyourdog [2007-03-01 10:23:09 +0000 UTC]

I decided that Uni isn't the right choice for me. I'm not totally focused on private colleges, 'cause they offer things Uni can't for me, and it really suits me.

You can do schoolies anytime, I suppose. As long as you've got some friends who share the same holiday, and a nice long break, you're set (:

IF YOU DO, you must consider Canon's DSLR 400D. I've been eyeing that since it was released. It's excellent!

Quality wise, you gotta play around with the camera settings! Like, ISO and shutter speeds etc. (:

That's what I'm doing now xD My dad passed his Canon 300D to me a year ago, and when mum asked me if I wanted to get the 400D for my 18th, I thought I didn't deserve it yet. Not now, especially this year. Oh yeah, btw, where are you now?

I thought you'd gone to Amedika already P:
Hahaha You'll be out of there in no time! Foundations are the way to go these days. But me = going through Year 12.

And Year 12 = suffering + pain + workaholic status which is not bloody easy to shake off. Oh, the woes of being in the final year of school.

KamikazeRae In reply to arafia [2007-02-17 00:02:56 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, it'll be quicker than you think! I have one more year of school work and all this mumbojumbo, and although it feels like ages, when I think about how last year went by like -- that, man, it'll all be over in no time!

You won't need to do SATs to get to Amedika?

arafia In reply to KamikazeRae [2007-02-20 10:38:43 +0000 UTC]

Nah, I'm not going to amelika straight ... actually I suddenly thought of taking law(haha!) so my parents are giving me another week to think it over .... sigh.
