# About me
My name is Luisa Isabel de Sá Freitas e Freitas (Luigi being my artistic name), i was born in frebruary 1993 in O'Porto, Portugal, althought i'm currently living in Madeira Island.
I'm an art student with the hopes of achieving a place as comic book artist/cartoonist in Art.
Along the years i've been taking art workshops and contests of various natures, to better improve my techniques and overcome my dificulties, such as comic book workshop with Coleen Doran 03 july 2008 in “Pousada da juventude” (youth hostel) Funchal; Illustration with Roberto Gomes, inserted in “Madeira Comics Festival” 2011, wich took place in “Museu Casa das Mudas” Calheta (museum house sleedings), or even an extensive water color workshop with Marcus Millewsky, with whom i've been taking a painting course since 2004.
Some contest i entered, went around illustrations for a book cover (“clube de leitura” (book club), through school, in the illustration category, I illustrated the book “boy in striped pyjamas” by John Boyle), 12h comic and 24h book contest (i created my own stories) and 55 European contest, “Europa na Escola” 2007 (Europe in school), in the artistic work modality.
Other experiences I had was participating on a street project facilitator “Portas Abertas” (opened doors) wich consisted in restore and retreive the decaid old part of Funchal city, in wich I painted a door, and also a mural together with other student artists.
But the best experience i had so far was in 2008, when I resumed and illustrated the book “A primeira aldeia global” by Martin Page (the first global village) in comic book format (two strips), entitled “Diáspora” for a contest inserted in “500 anos do Funchal” (500 years of funchal). In 2012 that work was published in a comic book, together with other works for the project “Traços de união, Desenhar pela inclusão” (traits of union, drawing for inclusion) wich contributed against poverty and social exclusion. It was very exciting because it was my first published comic.
Being so I gained a different confidence and believe that I might have a chance in the Art world.
