hey there, i saw your livestream and see you use the mask tool, and i was wondering how you use that and how it works?

Masking tools in Photoshop are used to mask areas that you don't want used/visible on a painted layer (those areas become invisible and can be taken out if you apply the mask). The selection tool in combination with the masking tool can help select areas you want masked versus areas you don't want masked. Selected areas are left visible once a mask is applied to a layer. I like using the masking tool for this reason, it helps keep my application of-shading for instance-where I need it only. I love using solid silhouettes with my work injunction with masking layers. Try practicing with the masking tool on a couple layers in Photoshop to test all of its capabilities to help get yourself acquainted~!
