Memorize: Pidgey, Ratatta, Zubat, Hoothoot, Sentret, Yanma, Swellow, Ghastly, Zigzagoon, Gulpin and Whismur. Catch every single one you find. Ditto can be all of them. Find a chart and save it so you don’t forget. It’s not a matter of a ditto is hiding in one place or not, when you first tap one of the above Pokémon the game sends a signal to determine whether it’s a ditto or not. Once it’s a ditto it’s a ditto for anyone else that tries to catch it. So if someone around you finds one try to catch that same spawned Pokémon it will definitely be a ditto! Ditto are also harder to catch so if one of the above Pokémon is pesky and won’t stay in the ball berry it since it might be a ditto.

I suggest malls and shopping areas. These Pokémon are more common there (better chance) and I found people have the most luck catching Ditto at locations with more people. But again so long as it’s a Pokémon that Ditto can be you have a chance.

The Pokémon nests just rotated so if you’re lucky find a Ghastly nest or an area with more of these Pokémon since that will increase your odds of it being ditto. Some Pokémon Go discord groups don’t mind spotting Dittos in an area if they know someone is looking for them. So if you’re lucky you can try to go to one before it despawns.

I know some people have a trusted friend login to their account in the same city if they spot one, but you have to make sure you haven’t had the game open in a awhile or it looks like you’re warping. Personally I don’t because I’ve put too much into the game to risk a ban, though you’re allowed to login to different devices since some people like to swap between phone and iPad or if their phone dies they use their friend’s.

The latest version of Pokémon Go also prioritizes rarer or Pokémon you haven’t caught in the Nearby tab, so if it’s showing one of the above Pokémon at a stop it Could have a better chance of being ditto but don’t hold me on that.

Ultimately it’s just lucky. Catch every thing that can turn into a ditto and hope for the best. I’ve had excellent luck at malls myself. Nighttime also helps since more hoothoot and ghastly appear and I’ve caught ditto from both.

And yeah. I play the game a lot. I could have caught Mew earlier but I wanted to get it on my birthday hah hah. I have too many Mewtwo too, if only I could swap them for more Mew heh heh.

Hey, I also want to ask something, about Ditto again.

I've encountered a few of the Pokemon that could be Ditto that break out of a ball after a single shake then flee instantly, kinda like how Abra mechanics works.

I know that Ditto's base flee rate is low, but is there any chance that said Pokemon could be Ditto?

Possible yes. Unless someone else catches it next to you you’ll never know. I’ve had ditto flee on me when someone else caught it. It happens. I know Pidgey flees a lot since it’s so pivotal for leveling up.

And regretfully, I didn't know I needed to evolve a Magikarp. Had I known, I never would've done it. Oh well, gonna go run a hundred kilos before the event ends.
