Character design: ClothingWhen creating an OC the personality and backstory are the most important aspects. But how will s/he be recognized if her/his hair, face and whole body looks just like an other one's OC?
The answer is simply: her/his clothing! Most people choose their clothing on their own. And not everybody buys the same shirt or shoes.
The choice of clothing is the best way to get recognized because a lot of matters are involved when you choose your new shirt. You consider age, attitude, gender, environment, hobbies, personality and profession (even when you're unemployed).
But let me show you step by step:
Age
This aspect is quite simple:
A baby or toddler will just wear clothes like romper suits and so on. But remember that the one responable for their clothing may also consider the kid's so far shown personality and all the other things I'm going to talk about later.
When the kid gets older, it's a bit different. Parents or people in charge will still be the one buyin

How are your writing projects coming along?
π: 0 β©: 1
MatildaGrimsworth In reply to dark-precipice [2014-03-03 19:21:25 +0000 UTC]
It's all here and there. I've got two projects that are constantly ongoing. I know I need to get back to my fic, but life's been ridiculous as of late.
But as a side project, I've been making a whole bunch of headcanons on how Wilbur's insides work, so there's been some efforts made.Β

Life is a bastard, isn't it?Β
What are the two projects about, if you don't mind sharing?
Funny, I've been thinking about a series of 'headcanon lists' myself, about various characters. Goodie, we can compare at some point!

Project one is about a small town sectored off from the rest of society by the government. Half of the population is highly gifted-and man , do I mean gifted.Β Like telekinesis gifted.Β The other one is about two cult leaders who are madly in love and hell-bent on cleaning off the earth. Basically it's one big bundle of conflicting emotions.Β
Most of my headcanons are based off of how fast Will dissolved after death. I'm guessing that his blood was highly acidic, which would make his whole circulatory system ineffective, if he had normal human cells. I'm guessing his blood cells, while still being hemoglobin based, were probably built like most of the bacteria you find in the hot springs in Yellowstone, that only have one lipid layer. They can survive in high pH levels, so it'd make sense.

I'd totally read the one about the cult leaders. Nothing like Unholy Matrimony.
Hm, I thought the dissolution of the corpse was similar to that of the Mi-go in 'Whisperer in Darkness' - their dead bodies are so un-Earthly, its basically up to the living processes that keep them together, and once they die, the body falls apart and rots much, much faster - Β kind of like a drop of water in the desert.

"Oh look, they're committing genocide! That's adorable!"
Well, his body wasn't totally unearthly-not yet. I think his growth would've been in stages. Like at first, he'd be more human, but as time goes on, he morphs more into his unearthly form.

But what if... they were from OPPOSING cults? Both of which want to destroy the world, of course.
I think he was always like that, just grew in size; his diary mentions that he was going to be transformed once the Old Ones took over.
π: 0 β©: 1
MatildaGrimsworth In reply to dark-precipice [2014-03-03 20:13:29 +0000 UTC]
They were from opposing cults, but eventually they just told everyone thy're gonna have to deal with each other. It was a Same Goal, Different Process thing.
I think that while he always had the Otherness in him, it didn't come in as strong until he was older. Sort of a puberty phase, y'know? He wouldn't be able to assume his true form until what had to happen was done, but he'd get a part of it. Sort of a natural incentive.

Nice! True leaders!
Yes, yes he did. Remember that one neighbor who saw him as a child running to the hill and thought little Wilbur was wearing trunks and a fringed belt, later revealed to be fur and tentacles? I just don't really think said 'Otherness' developed any further, except maybe in size.
