The remembrance of the Great War inspired my submission of "Lest we forget..."
It's a hundred years since the conflict. Poppies, cornflowers and forget me nots are symbols of hope and remembrance in various nations - "Lest we forget" and history repeats itself...

I only live twenty minutes away from the battlefields (Flanders)...so I can relate to this part of history all too well.

It was a terrible period of international history that many struggle to comprehend or even remember these days. Maybe a war of that nature can never happen again now we have missiles and planes but the horror of terrorist attacks on civilians are just as much an act to be condemned by history. We just don't learn

The "First by reflection..." white cottage by the canal in Wales gained a lot of approval among deviants. Unfortunately it's not for sale, although many of you expressed a wish to move in!

Without being over nostalgic and without realising it at the time, this photograph showed the building in London where I was born. The location was St Thomas Hospital on the opposite bank of the Thames from the Houses of Parliament. Sadly, I cropped it off just beyond the left margin of the submission. The skyline has changed dramatically in the intervening years though! It means a lot to me and I'm so glad you liked it enough to fave!
