Personally, it doesn't work for me to set aside time to do it. I just gotta want/need to do it and let the time find itself
As for motivational tips, my best motivation comes from my own delusions 
My second best motivation is to draw for the thoeretical audience. What if someday, someone who would really like your drawings and stories never gets the chance to see them because you never wrote them down? Why not jump at the chance to make this theoretical person smile? :3
