To confirm whether are that the sender of the notes is a DeviantArt officials, be sure to check their profile(inΒ web version of DeviantArt).Β If it is a DeviantArt official, there should be a specific symbol aside their name. Here is an example (in the year of 2020):

hi, I need help.
I want to upload a drawing to this page but it doesn't let me.
It tells me "Provide a preview image" or "There was an error loading the file. The new file must be viewable"
and also my drawing comes out in BMP letters.
What should I do?

I have two solution for your issues. First one will be mainly tackle on "Provide a preview image", second one will be mainly focus on BMP file format.
Solution 1
Create a separated image as a "preview image" of your drawing in PNG/JPG format. Once the drawing (which is in BMP format) is uploaded, there should be a option to upload "preview image".
Click the option and upload the separated image. And then finish the rest of the things as usual.
I tried this method in this image , which is I uploaded a PSD file as the drawing and uploaded a PNG image as preview.
I won't suggest this solution, unless the original file have some additional informations that will be lost in PNG/JPG format and you want to share those information to others.
Solution 2
Convert the format of your drawing from BMP to PNG, or export your drawing from your drawing application in PNG format instead of BMP format. Preview image is not required for PNG/JPG format.
The file can be converted by Microsoft Paint (or some online file format converter). Open the BMP file with Microsoft Paint. Once opened, click "Save as..." and chose PNG format to save your file.
I will suggest this method. I can't see any reason to use BMP format, since the function of BMP and PNG are basically the same besides of BMP is bigger and PNG is smaller.
