No probs. Here, you looking forward to the new Who series whenever it's getting released?

Yep, I can't wait for series 11!

I'm glad one of us is. I'm not exactly thrilled with the new series, mainly because the show's been crummy for nearly eight years this year, and the casting choices (Bloody Whittaker, himself off the Chase and two Hollyoaks has-beens). Regarding the fact that 13 is a she, I'd rather have something like the Doctor in our universe dying permanently, and a female counterpart from another universe takes over, and is played by somebody who's got substantial experience of being in fantasy, sci-fi, spy fiction or period epics/dramas (my choices would include Gwendoline Christie, Virginia Madsen, Sean Young, Abigail Cruttendon, Alice Krige, Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Samantha Bond, or, as a last resort, Emma Atkins).

Regarding the companions, I just can't help but feel it's following the same patterns we've already seen recently (the men are no doubt going to be completely useless and the girl's going to be the next Kwisatz Haderach, or invincible/immortal/indestructible, or whatever). Also, why can't they bring back previous characters who'd be great companions, such as Sarah Jane Smith's kids, or the kids of a classic companion?

WALLE1Doctor1Who In reply to OmegaVI [2018-07-15 23:36:15 +0000 UTC]

Honestly I have been enjoying the modern series, and I've got no problem with the casting choices (but that could just be a result of either me generally being willing to tolerate the shows flaws and mistakes (for example, I am willing to tolerate Colin Baker's tasteless outfit), or because I have watched none of the new main casts' previous acting gigs, and thus I don't have a baseline to form expectations from). As for the companions, there might be a change in that pattern (we can't be completely sure if the new series is going to follow it), but it would be kind of cool to bring back previous characters, or their descendants.

OmegaVI In reply to WALLE1Doctor1Who [2018-07-22 08:13:27 +0000 UTC]

I've haven't been enjoying the recent Who series all that much, what with over the top plot arcs, the badly executed companions and the badly written creatures, and everything else. Moreover, I still can't help but feel we'll be having companions who become immortal/Kwisatz Haderach/are useless/whatever. Even worse, they've tried to reinvent the wheel regarding the new series, by not having anything proper fans remember show up.

I especially like your Species 8472 and Cylon ship designs. Any others that you're thinking of doing?

Chiletrek In reply to OmegaVI [2017-05-14 18:25:19 +0000 UTC]

Hello:
Thanks . Well, real-life has gotten me busy so things might not go very fast. As for Species 8472 I am going to update all the models I did years ago as an update to the faction made for "Star Trek: Armada 2"... and I will include a couple of designs from "Star Trek: Online". As for Cylons, I have forgotten tp upload more pics because I did make all Raider designs from the tv series and some nice designs from the game by Sierra .

OmegaVI In reply to Chiletrek [2017-05-21 07:58:59 +0000 UTC]

Why not do some designs of the insides as well? Just a suggestion. Or your own designs of members of each species? Again, just a suggestion.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chiletrek In reply to OmegaVI [2017-05-21 16:38:23 +0000 UTC]

I don't have any real plans to have designs of members or about the interiors because I wouldn't use those in the game I mod... and also my time is limite .

OmegaVI In reply to Chiletrek [2017-05-28 16:13:41 +0000 UTC]

Oh. Could always imagine them, I guess.

Chiletrek In reply to OmegaVI [2017-05-28 19:00:43 +0000 UTC]

Me too actuallly, I wouldn't just truly be able to show them unless I find some alternatives.

But 3d models of interiors are not really used in the games I mod .

OmegaVI In reply to Chiletrek [2017-06-04 07:58:11 +0000 UTC]

Like I suggested, just use imagination.

On another note, where do the Hyperborean ships come from? I've only just noticed them now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chiletrek In reply to OmegaVI [2017-06-04 17:15:24 +0000 UTC]

If the need arises then I'll come-up with something .

The Hyperboreans have the same ancestors than the Lanteans, but they came into existence later and they are developping in the Triangulum galaxy. Maybe not the best place to settle-in because it is still recovering from it's near-miss collission with Andromeda some 200+ million years ago, but it is the richest galaxy in star-formation and, thus, resources too . I hope you like the designs .

And yeah, I like the designs too, that is why I try my best to make my own versions of those .

I used to watch a little bit of SG1 when I used to live in Manchester, along with a few clips (trailers etc.) for the other series. This was when it used to be broadcast on Sky 1, back a few years ago, when I was a kid. I have watched the first Stargate film last year,, in its entirity, but I think that's about it. Sorry.

Good on you, and, keep up the good work, I guess.

On another note, any other fandoms out there that you like?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chiletrek In reply to OmegaVI [2017-06-25 20:05:43 +0000 UTC]

Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Robotech, Stargate, maybe a couple others, heh... but I never see myself as a huge fandom-like person, although some friends say I am a Cylon .

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OmegaVI In reply to Chiletrek [2017-07-02 07:20:39 +0000 UTC]

Seems a good selection of fandoms. I know of Star Trek, Battlestar and Stargate, but I've never heard of Robotech.

No offence, but how can you say you're not a fandom person, when you've got loads of artwork on your page?

Speaking of Battlestar, which one are you a fan of, original or revival?

What others do you like?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chiletrek In reply to OmegaVI [2017-07-02 17:29:11 +0000 UTC]

Hello:
Robotech did born as a miz of three anime series, back then anime was not super-popular and no studios would bring Macross because of too few episodes, so Carl Macek was fored to... ehh... create something, so he created Robotech. In time it took it's own identity and it would kick a$$ if not for the greedy people of the studios that developped it.

Because I must have totally misread you . Fandom? likely... maybe I misread with "fanboy" which I hope I am not because I only hear bad stuff about such people... and if I am incorrect then I'd be happy to know what is that really about.

I actually like both series, the revival was the once I fully watched, but I know the original because of re-runs of the shows decades ago. I am actually making my own 3d model of the classic battlestar .

Other series like Farscape, the movie-universe of Starship Troopers too.

OmegaVI In reply to Chiletrek [2017-07-30 12:21:30 +0000 UTC]

Ah. Sorry, not too much of an anime enthusiast. I have watched bits of Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and (in its entirity) Highlander: The Search for Vengeance, if they count?

Ah well. No biggie.

I've never actually watched either series proper, I've just seen a few clips on YouTube, and I do prefer the classics over the reboots.

Heard of Starship Troopers, not so much Farscape. Sorry.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chiletrek In reply to OmegaVI [2017-07-30 21:00:37 +0000 UTC]

Well, I have watched none of the new animes, I am of the older-school animations, that is why I know of Robotech and the original Gundam series... and Digimon (unlike Pokemon, Digimon has a plot).

 Cool.

Well, if you have taken  a look at my gallery then you'll see I posted rnders of my Battlestar Galactica from the original series ->Colonial Battlestar (TOS) , and the folder -> chiletrek.deviantart.com/galle…

 That's fine.

OmegaVI In reply to Chiletrek [2017-08-06 10:48:02 +0000 UTC]

I have watched a very small bit of Digimon. And when it comes to anime, I prefer the classics, such as Yu-Gi-Oh! and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, and sometimes Pokemon and Digimon. Highlander: The Search for Vengeance is basically a retelling of the original Highlander movie from 1986, except more anime-ified, if you know what I mean.

OK.

I will take a look at your gallery and see your 1978 Battlestar Galactica stuff.

No biggie.

I do remember Yu-Gi-Oh! too, those were good times . Yes, I know what you mean, and there are also animes of Iron-man and the X-men.

I hope you'll like my 1978 Battlestar Galactica stuff . And I do have plans for another Colonial ship.

OmegaVI In reply to Chiletrek [2017-09-10 08:58:55 +0000 UTC]

I mean, they must've done at some point, but given that CBS Action and CBS Horror/The Horror Channel frequently shows all the live-action Star Trek shows (besides the new one) and used to show classic Doctor Who all the time until roughly last summer, they really ought to show BSG 1978 there. WDYT?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chiletrek In reply to OmegaVI [2017-09-10 16:29:33 +0000 UTC]

Well, who knows what the people in charge think about or how they think about things. Although the original BSG was part of the ABC ompany... more than that I have no clue.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OmegaVI In reply to Chiletrek [2017-09-17 07:38:38 +0000 UTC]

If you ask me, the leaders of CBS need to take their fingers out of their backsides and start airing BSG 1978, or anything else that's no longer on TV.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chiletrek In reply to OmegaVI [2017-09-17 15:26:20 +0000 UTC]

Instead of many of the crappy tv-shows they all air nowadays?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OmegaVI In reply to Chiletrek [2017-10-01 08:37:34 +0000 UTC]

No offence, but I never said they were crappy. It's just a lot of the shows they have on in the present are not my cup of tea, if you know what I mean, and a lot of the time it's just the same crap all the time. They ought to start showing BSG 1978, classic Who and early revival (inc spinoffs) and even some of Gerry Anderson's old shows. WDYT?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chiletrek In reply to OmegaVI [2017-10-01 17:27:25 +0000 UTC]

None taken . But my comment was because I have seen some of those v shows and comments from people I know, and it is like things are going downhill, only some new shows are liketrying to help things to improve, but I agree that some re-air of classic shows would help, specially if Producers can see ratings rising.

Which shows have you seen?

It would also be good in some cases, for the nostalgia.
