I wish I had color pencils with more shades to a hue. I think that would be easier in creating effects.

I'm using 24 colors color pencil, and I do agree that the more color pencils you have the better colors will come together in the picture :) (Smile)

Also, do you prefer putting on the dark layers or light layers first? And do you think either works well, depending on what you're more comfortable with?

For me, I would prefer putting light layer first, because even though erasers can kind of erase color pencils, darker colors are always harder to fix compare to the light colors. when you're done with light colors then move in to medium(lol?) colors, mix it, then dark colors and mix, THEN back to light. I normally would keep on going through the process over and over again until I'm satisfied with the result :P (Lick)

then CG is another story XD light and dark both works lol, at least I think it would XDD

If you're more comfortable with putting darker colors first then keep doing what you do! drawing is about what you love not what is right and normal haha > :D (Big Grin)

And its definitely a lot better when pencils/crayons are sharper. Its a lot neater that way.

Also, for paler (not white-pale) skin tones, what colors do you use?

I've only colored the skin tone you see in "clouds", mainly because I'm quite limited due to the color selections i have on hand :/.

For coloring the skin though, I use white, light skin-ish orange, and orange. I kept the paper's white base as it is then add on the light orange already as the shadow, then a very little amount of orange only for the dark dark parts, which is only to show that you have another color and not only two, if that make any sense XD...

supposedly this is what you meant by the white-pale skin tone?
