I'm sorry if you've been mistreated in the past. Christians are human too, and as such, we make mistakes. The ultimate goal of a Bible-following Christian is to follow Jesus' example: to love God, and love our neighbor as ourselves. But some lose sight of that vision and follow their own hateful agendas under the cover of God's Word (e.g. Westboro Baptist Church), and I assure you people like this are the vocal minority; they're the exception, not the standard.Β
It's true we believe in heteronormativity, as the Bible teaches. But we also believe that God loves EVERYONE, not just the pretty cisgendered Christians. But regardless of what the Bible teaches, it doesn't justify the ill treatment of someone who disagrees. Verses are often taken out of their historical context, cherry-picked to justify abuse or to deceive others to believe things about God and the Bible that are untrue, and that is abhorrent, done by both Christians and nonchristians.
I hope that as intelligent beings, such as yourself, we all will do our best to not fall for religious "fake news" and do our best to stay informed regarding all sides of the story, not just stay in our own comfortable bubble of information. Christians sometimes unwittingly do this, and end up not knowing how to reach out to others with a different world view.Β
But hey, trying and failing is better than not trying at all.

Mm you said it. Your religion teaches hate, with its heteronormative bullcrap, and most christians follow that ergo most christians and the religion is hateful and horrid.
