I started the Chris Othley classes, so Im very excited. I work full time so the classes give me a chance to actually get somewhere.
I've added you on my mentor list, that way I can check your artwork and try and learn from them Keep up the great work, your artwork inspires.

Oh nice, that sounds pretty good How long are those classes going? And what do they focus on? I definitely hope that you can learn from them as much as possible. It should definitely be a nice break from work. What do you do for a living? =]
And hey,  that is quite the compliment I'm not sure I'm really thaaat good, haha, but it certainly makes me happy, if you feel that you can learn from my work =]

I think the classes run till next year June or something. But so far its been really good. Its more painting they focus on and how to add depth etc. He shows you techniques and stuff and you get assignments.

Oops, I just noticed that I never replied to this! How are things going for you lately? Are you still doing the Oatley classes? =] Do you feel that they were what you expected and like they paid off?

I'm really enjoying the Oatley classes. I am doing the magic box, its teaching me new techniques and skills I never would of learn't other wise. The course also lets me learn at my own pace, so I get to do it whenever I have free time and this helps me out allot.

I am doing okay =] Work is fairly relaxed right now and I'm doing lots of private sketches lately, although most of them are on paper But it feels good, exploring ideas and all that Just need to turn more of them into finished paintings!

Lol, that the course I am doing with Chris Oatley, he has different courses. Also he has a forum and its nice to put you artwork and you get feedback and crits.

I'm trying to redraw an image, I got the vanishing point, perspective etc. But when I'm drawing the left side is either to long, right side to short and never balances or looks like it should.
Ahhhhh the joys of learning. :-/

Mhm often times we try to put more into an image than we would actually see from a certain point. One thing that also often causes an image to look wrong, is bad forshortening. Make sure you construct that carefully =]
Hehe, I know how you feel. But I have to say, I enjoy this problem solving And sometimes I create some problems for myself, haha

Indeed you are correct my foreshortening is just bad. I'm going to try this for another day, if it fails I will try an easier image and work my way back to this. Got to start somewhere.

Haha, there is never a point when you stop learning =] Don't think that I don't constantly face difficulties and problems =] I do, and I always have to try and solve them

But yeah, sometimes it's better to move to something different for the day and come back the next day, things might look clearer then. Plus, you are totally taking the right path: do simple things first, learn from them and then proceed to the next harder one
