Hey hun, have you considered submitting your art to any of deviantArt's groups? There are groups dedicated to naughty art and sexy pinups and so forth, where your work would fit in well. It might help your work get more attention - it deserves a lot more than it's getting now.

Hmm, well...I don't entirely object to the idea...but at the same time, I have concerns about what exactly that would entail and also taking her character/setting into account.Β  Basically, what I am getting at is Victorian Underwear! It...covers lots.Β  She wouldn't wear anything that shows more.Β  That isn't the type of person she is.Β Β  I mean, proper and presentable is kinda her by-law.Β  She wouldn't undo a single button for the sake of physical comfort, let alone provocative reasons. XD

PublikWerx In reply to Murielle [2016-04-08 02:33:18 +0000 UTC]

Understood---and yet even Sarah Bernhardt did some music hall burlesque in her time, and she was a true lady. What constitutes "scandalous" in her time would be considered G-rated now. I won't utilize modern "Victoria's Secret" garb for Victorian times simply because I'm a bit of a stickler for proper detail. No sense putting a WWII pin-up spin on it. It's too jarring and inacurate.

About the marcie comment

Well Katja also masked her true personality with the guise of a being an innocent girl. Marcie could be masking it by being a nerdy subservient quiet girl.

PublikWerx In reply to Ownerest [2016-03-26 15:12:06 +0000 UTC]

Marcie masking innocence---with a voice like hers!? Truly that is genius evil on a massive scale.

PublikWerx In reply to xYuu-chan [2016-03-24 03:15:12 +0000 UTC]

It's difficult to articulate how I do it---the expressions just happen that way. It's hard to explain.
But what I can do is allow you to make copies of whatever pin-ups you like, and you can use those as templates to mix in with your style until you are adept enough to do it on your own with your own particular flair. You can do it. Is that okay?

"Avi Art For Pssngr" isn't a cheerleader? Hmf...my fault. I guess I really don't go out much as I used to. My last football game was twenty years ago, and I'm so used to some cartoonists depicting cheerleaders smoking, as a kind of edgy "Motley Crue" image. I got that same "Sunset Strip rock band graphic" vibe from "Avi Art". Sorry...

Welcome to DA! and you definitely have something going on here as Yuu-chan mentioned earlier. I'd recommend giving something (more) to what you have, and after some time, I'm sure it'll take off nicely. Just suggesting~Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PublikWerx In reply to LeonDaydreamer [2016-03-15 00:17:02 +0000 UTC]

True. What you see are introductory samples of my style, to familiarize folks with. A bit scrappy, but there you go. Someone once said my style walks the razor's edge between clean professionalism and utter amateurish simpleton. How can one argue otherwise?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LeonDaydreamer In reply to PublikWerx [2016-03-15 13:10:56 +0000 UTC]

Mmm, I know what they mean by that, but when I see something like this, I can tell its something you do naturally. That to me is professional at the minimum. I mean, you can be painting paint splatters on a canvas, call it professional work, and not give a crap about it. That doesn't seem professional at all. Sure, you're style is sketchy, but it is something you're consistent with, and it passes on this idea of "This is my work, and this is how I do it." You know what I mean? If I saw this anywhere out on the street or online, you would be the first person to come to mind. Straight up.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PublikWerx In reply to LeonDaydreamer [2016-03-15 17:16:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Yet the truth is, my style is odd. It LOOKS as simple as anything by Charles Schulz, but when folks try to copy it free-hand, they have difficulty replicating it exactly. I myself would have a bastard of a time replicating your work. The truth is, one leaves one's own personality in their work as a kind of psychic fingerprint. I strongly believe that cartooning, in particular, possess a strange kind of magic---because of that "psychic fingerprint", it may actually be possible to ascertain what the artist may look like. I guess it's the same principle that applies to dog owners in relation to their dogs...go figure.
