Thanks! It's the name of a series of waterfalls in Switzerland, where Sherlock Holmes "dies" in the short story called "The Final Problem" ^_^

Have you ever read the book 'Arthur and George' by Julian Barnes? It's an account of Doyle's campaigning for George Edalji who was wrongly convicted for murdering animals. It's classed as fiction, but is based on fact. One of the best books I have ever read.

I know about that case and how Edalji was exonerated thanks to Doyle, but I had no idea there was a book about it. Now you've made me want to pick it up! I also read somewhere that Doyle theorised about Jack the Ripper's identity, I guess he wasn't as successful in that endeavour.

Strange - why would be waste his time theorising when it's obvious that Sherlock Holmes WAS Jack the Ripper (I read a theory somewhere online - the dates match up and everything. They said the only discrepancy is that Holmes is fictional - scandalous!)
Yes, you should pick up the book, it's very good. I'm a huge Holmes fan, although it doesn't influence my work like it does yours.

Hehehe, that's preposterous! Everyone knows he existed, and he's still in Sussex keeping bees
Yes, ever since I read Sherlock Holmes for the first time when I was 10 I've been fascinated by those bygone days of hansom cabs and bowler hats.
By the way, I see you're also a fellow lomographer, and you use a camera called Pouva, I had never heard of that camera, but it looks great!

I adore my Pouva, absolutely love it. It's from 1950's Germany. I bought one on a whim after seeing some of 's work. After overexposing like mad at first I've been using some 50-200 ISO redscale film with it recently so we'll see how that turns out.
I got into Holmes at about 10 as well. I think it was the old Basil Rathbone films. Have you seen the recent BBC version? It's set in modern day, so I was skeptical, but it really is brilliant and surprisingly faithful. A couple of years ago I set myself the task of reading all the books consecutively, haha. I still have to complete the cannon - I got up until the Casebook. Do you have a favourite story?
Your Analogue gallery has some brilliant stuff in it. I'm very tempted to get one of those Disderis.

Ah yes, I've already seen her lovely gallery. Can I ask where you bought the Pouva? I just received my first rolls of 50-200 redscale, and I was wondering, if I want a more reddish effect, do you know if I should use the B setting for the fisheye or holga?
I also watched some Rathbone films when I was small, but when I watched them again during my teens, I quite dislike Watson's portrayal as a dimwit. I recently watched the first episode and beginning of the second of BBC Sherlock, and I must say I don't share your opinion, I really disliked how Holmes was portrayed, yes, they remained faithful to many details of the original story, but Holmes himself, I don't get the impression to be watching Holmes, like when he states he's a high functioning sociopath, it just sounds so out of character. Maybe it's just me, I guess I'm kind of a nitpick, heh. I'm not saying anything new here, but I think who has gotten nearest to the original Holmes is Jeremy Brett, although I also like Peter Cushing for some reason...
I've already read the whole canon, originally I only had 6 books in Spanish, but when I went to London I bought a complete facsimile edition with the original illustrations (for just 6 pounds!) and since then I've finished reading the canon all over again. What I regret the most is not visiting the Sherlock Holmes museum in London...so sad. Have you ever been there?
I couldn't say which is my favourite story, there's too many, although I hold dear the Adventures as a whole because it was the first Holmes book I ever read, even if The Speckled Band has some serious plot holes, hehe. I can tell you my least favourite is probably The Valley of Fear, I felt it was too similar to A Study in Scarlet, although I quite enjoyed the second half of the book narrating the back story of the characters involved.
Thank you, I really like my Disderis, I also have the 2 lens Disderi, but I haven't developed the roll I shot with it yet.
