Hello! Random question: I know you're a lover of all types of music, but what is one song that you think describes you best?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rozen-Guarde In reply to JFMstudios [2018-01-15 20:26:20 +0000 UTC]

Oh that's a hard one because in a way I feel I could relate to a lot of songs. I can give you my top 3 I feel describe me~ Avalanche by Bring Me The Horizon, Who we are by Nothing More, and finally How did you love by Shinedown. May I ask why you want to know?

From one music lover to another, I thought it would be a fun question to ask. I usually like to ask it to friends and acquaintances so I get to know and understand them better. It's also a good way to discover new music. I've never heard anything from Nothing More, but I know the other two bands.

Oh cool!  Yeah if you haven't heard Nothing More, you are missing out!  From listening to their albums, I haven't found any bad songs, which is rare because normally you get one or 2 that aren't that great.  Especially with their newest album that just recently came out, they have some great songs I like to rock out too.  I recommend checking them out!  Them along with, Starset, Breaking Benjamin, and From Ashes to New.

I just listened to a few songs from Nothing More and I dig em! "Jenny", "Go To War", and "Who We Are". Thanks for suggesting them to me. I'll be sure to buy an album soon.

I'm glad everything is well. Did you get to spend your birthday with family and friends? Yeah, you can blame college for that. I'm alive though.    Cheers! I knew college was soul-sucking but not this soul-sucking. It feels like you can never make time for yourself and everything goes downhill when you don't make time for yourself, you know? This semester was rough but not as bad as it could have been, thank God. I can't wait to get the classes I don't like over with so I can get into the classes I actually want to do. Was it like that for you when you were in college?

Rozen-Guarde In reply to cece61998 [2018-01-02 00:31:54 +0000 UTC]

Yes I did~  I did get to spend my birthday with my family and friends.   It was great!  Oh yeah, college is a pain.  I remember it well   People say it was great, well yeah not for me, when I was spending a lot of time on finals and architecture projects.  Not as fun....

Now that you mention it, yes it was like that for me.  I had to take classes I didn't like, like anthropology, or art classes that didn't teach any art at all   ......and then having to struggle with managing time for these classes I'm in, getting all the projects done, and then trying to find time to eat and sleep.  Yes college was like that for me.  Worst part was every teacher acted still like their college class was the ONLY class you took so they assigned you homework that was rough regardless of the other classes you were taking and so you ended up having to do at least 6 hours of homework each night.  And honestly, I'd be lucky if it was simple math homework or worksheet homework because I can jump through those hoops easily.  It was the architecture projects that bothered me, having to come up with an entire floorplan with furnishings and specs showing what furniture and from what manufacturer you would purchase them from and giving that for just an intermediate project.  The final project required a giant-ass presentation and rendering our perspectives with crappy CGI drawings, which as a rebel back then, I refused to do in college   I wanted my perspectives and concepts behind my ideas of how a space should look to be reflected in an artwork, not through something as simple as copying and pasting textures into polygonal planes and lighting based upon how an un-perfected computer program was wanting it to look "realistic" which still looked fake as ever.  I understood using that program for like quick concept pieces and so on, but for final perspective images, I wanted mine to be like my art, something where I could show them a picture and not have to stand in front of it and explain why I decided to put a chair or table somewhere, and the audience could just look at it and feel what I feel.

Ok I'm getting off on a mini rant XD  I'll stop.  But looooooong story short...yes, college was soul sucking like that.  I was very VERY happy to be done with it.  Learned a lot more about myself the moment I was out of school all together and could finally feel myself grow as a person and adult than when I was structured in a school system.

Glad your birthday was well spent!

I can't express how much I relate to that. Sometimes, I have to force my roommate to eat because she'll have one meal a day due to all the work she has to do. Finding time to eat and sleep is the worst. I find that my tolerance for spending time without food has increased greatly since I've entered college. I can work 12 hours without food but I definitely take necessary fluids. I know it's not good and it makes me bloat or get bigger because my body thinks I'm starving but sometimes I really just don't have the time. The homework won't do itself. Oh and each professor thinking their class is the only one IS SO TRUE. UKSDSHSK. Sorry, I know I've only been through one semester but they're just horrible for the amount of work they assign. "We want you to do this time-consuming work, study two month ahead for midterms and finals, eat, sleep, make friends, and so clubs. Oh, there are 24 hours in a day? Well, I guess that's too bad."

Yikes, those architecture classes sound like a hassle. Thank goodness, you're out of there. I like how you pursued your own image instead of being confined to what is typically expected. It must have been hard but you've made it. Now you can continue your journey your way.

FREEDOM!       It's good that you grew as a person after college. I wonder what will happen when most people can't afford college. The prices only skyrocket and colleges keep finding loop holes.

Rozen-Guarde In reply to cece61998 [2018-01-04 04:03:39 +0000 UTC]

Right?!?  Seriously!  I was surprised I found time to get 3 meals a day, and other times I would have to just have meals that could be cooked in less than 3 minutes because I didn't have 30 to 45 minutes to go to the cafeteria to get something to eat.  Now that I look back at it, maybe eating the cafeteria food was not a good idea

Aww thanks~  Glad you liked how I pursued my own image in college.  Yes I can continue my journey and I'm definitely happy to be out~  It was a different road of survival, but one I managed to overcome (barely) but I'm still kicking.  Yeah that's a good question about those people who can't afford college.  Then again, only rich people can afford it.  I couldn't afford it and neither could my parents.  The only reason I was able to go was because I had to take on a bit of debt while my parents also took on more debt to get me through, and all for that stupid piece of paper saying I have a higher education.  I'm not even pursuing a job in the field I graduated in, but sad story is that you have more opportunities open for you when employers find out you got a college degree.  They don't care what you got it in, they really see it as that you have had experience working with different people in groups and also see potential to mold you into what they want for the position you are applying for.  It's sad that this is a fact in society, but trust me, many opportunities can open up just because of that expensive piece of paper even if they aren't in the field you graduated in.

Yeah college does keep getting more and more expensive.  But thankfully there are loopholes for you to save money in college too.  For starters, don't buy the books at the college book store, buy or rent them online instead.  Much cheaper.  Also, save all your receipts from purchases that you used for materials, software, and even other school related things you needed for projects and then your parents can use that as a tax deduction.  It helped my parents a lot that's for sure.  And with how ridiculous college is, I no longer questioned the morality of exploiting loopholes, I just exploited them for survival.  I made sure never to cross the line of doing something illegal, but I did make sure to blur the line a lot in hopes of benefiting myself and my parents.  Anything to ease the burden of affording college.

Haha, yeah, I definitely understand. My university's cafeteria's food is not as bad as the horror story's I've heard (we're rated #1 in the U.S.) but I found myself eating french fries at 11PM every night. I swear they sprinkle cocaine on it. Anyways, I made a resolution to minimize and completely stop eating so late. It was torture. At first I resisted well but it would be 2AM and I'd give in to a nice cold bowl of cereal. Smh, I can't eat like that for the next for years and not exercise. The worse and best part is that the both the gym and the dining hall are four minutes from where I live. What did you end up doing for the four years? I think I might start cooking but I need time and money for that, both of which are limited, haha.

My family is in a similar situation. I hate it so much but that's just the way it is. I'm happy for the people I know that won't be going into debt because they have enough scholarships to cover close to 95% of the cost. It is a challenge to make something of yourself when you don't have a degree. I do believe it is possible if you have connections and a brand for yourself. That's definitely not an easy task but I'm happy for those who succeed with this method as well. I didn't even know the degree didn't matter. Maybe that's why for med school they don't care what your undergrad degree is as long as you do well on the MCAT.

I don't think it's morally wrong for us to exploit loopholes because colleges have been doing it way longer than we have. If we didn't exploit loopholes as well, we would be so screwed. I would never buy books from the college book store, no, sir. I've seen those price tags. They must think I exhale money. XD I buy from other students and it is wayyyy cheaper. I didn't know my parents could use it as a tax deduction. I'll start doing that but does that count if you buy college materials online(my college does a lot of things online)?

Oh interesting that you guys are rated #1 in the US. I didn't know this~ Cool!

For me, I actually went to college for 5 years. I had 2 in my hometown, then I had to transfer and stayed behind 1 year so I could get my minor in architecture next to my Bachelor's of Interior design~ For the 3 years when I transfered to a new college, I did end up eating the cafeteria food. Luckily there was a campus gym nearby so I went there to work out. Sadly I should have moved to an apartment because I stayed in the dorms and that did chip away a bit of my sanity over the years and I was fortunate that my campus did have a licensed psychologist nearby, so because my tuition covered it, I went to see my psychologist often when dealing with my anxiety or depression.

So basically it was just me trying to survive mentally those last 3 years of college.

Oh I agree, it is a difficult road for those who don't have a degree and for those people who have connections and make a brand for themselves, my hat definitely goes off to them for making their dreams come true.

Yes actually it does count if you buy college materials online too. Just print out the receipt of what you ordered and the cost and save it. As long as it was for educational purposes then it should be fine~

It also feels like it's #1 in draining their students' bank accounts, haha. The food is great compared to what I've heard, but not what I'm used to.

A minor in architecture combined with a Bachelor's of Interior design, that sounds like the perfect combo! Did you always know you wanted to minor in architecture? I see a lot of people consider a minor and I wonder how that comes to fruition. It's good that you got to work out despite the dorm situation. Dorms can be stressful to live in. //pat// My room mate and I tend to stay in our room so we don't know a lot of people in our hall. More like we know of them but they don't know of us, haha. I'm glad the psychologist came in handy and that it was covered by your tuition. Well despite the three years being a mental struggle, you've come through and moved onto better things. That's what counts!

Oh, thank you for telling me! My family could definitely use this.

No I didn't always know I wanted a minor, I really wanted another "feather" under my cap, or another title to help me out with finding a job.

Yes my dorm was indeed stressful -_- me and my sister had the same situation you did. We didn't know our neighbors and they didn't know us, but we knew of their "noise" they made.

Yes! Regardless of how stressful that was, I have moved to better things.

Oh yeah no problem i hope it helps~

Rozen-Guarde In reply to cece61998 [2017-01-12 02:45:07 +0000 UTC]

XD  It's ok that your answer was extremely late.  I am not so great at getting back to people ASAP either  Thanks for the birthday wishes.  As for my online store, I'm having trouble deciding if when I mail out my stuff from the store, if I should mail from my personal home, or if I should spend the extra money and get a P.O. Box so I can keep my personal address separate from my work.  I'm gonna go around and ask others what their opinion is, but yeah, I've hit a few minor setbacks and the decision of the P.O. box being one of them.  Another setback I've encountered would be whether I should spend the extra money to make sure that the package I send to people is "certified" meaning my customer has to sign to receive the package.  Then again, I know everyone is not always home at the right time, and my main concern is really the increase of thieves tacking packages on the front door all the time, so I think just a tracking number and insurance in case of theft or any damage, but yeah, that's another setback I encountered.    It's not going as smooth as I thought it would, and I'm sure a lot of people would tell me I'm probably just thinking too much about it and should just "do it" already, but I don't know, I like to examine all my variables and things that need to be considered so that I don't end up getting in trouble or disappointing my customer base in case their package doesn't arrive.  Still have a lot of plans I wanna do, it's just now trying to overcome the obstacles in my way that has put a major halt on my progress.
