Rex shoved his hands into his pockets as he strolled down the pathway of the grand park he was in. He decided to stop walking. He leaned against a tree and lit himself a cigarette.

Near by in the park, Talia sat on a bench texting. She didn't notice Rex.

Rex spotted her being oblivious on her phone and raised an eyebrow under his sunglasses. He got the last puff out of his cigarette and smashed it under his sneaker. He adjusted his glasses and quickly ran his fingers through his white hair. He put an unlit cigarette in his lips and walked up to her. He sat next to her but didn't say anything.

Talia noticed him sit next to her and glanced over briefly, before looking back down. She waited to see if he'd say anything first.

Rex took the unlit cigarette out of his mouth, "so you come here to text often?" He turned to her and gave her a look of 'seriously, man, you're in a park, do park things.'

Talia laughed and rolled her eyes. "No, I'm letting my little brother know where I am. He likes to check up on me."

He raised an eyebrow, "if he's your little brother shouldn't YOU being doing all the checking up?" He popped the unlit cigarette back in his lips.

She smirked slightly. "He does it enough for the both of us. I don't worry about checking up on him because he's already called, texted, or walked up to me to check up on me before I have the need to."

Rex chuckled lightly, "so, as I said before, come here often?" He crossed his long-ish legs and waited for her answer.

Talia chuckled and turned to face him better while leaning against the back of the bench. "When ever it's nice enough to come outside. Do you?"

"Mostly when I have nothing better to do and no where better to go," he uncrossed his legs and slouched more, "not much of an outdoors person, except when I need a smoke. I live with my cousin and she won't let me smoke inside." With that he pulled out a lighter and lit the cigarette he'd been holding between his lips.

"I love being outside, I find it annoying to be stuck inside for too long." She glanced down briefly to check the reply on her phone then slipped it into her pocket, before looking back to him.

He nodded and flicked some ash on the ground, "I'm ok with it if it's not to hot or cold." He briefly pulled out his phone and checked for a message, of course there wasn't one. He sighed and put it back in his pocket. "What's your name by the way, I don't think I asked."

"My name is Talia." She said with a small smile. "What's your name?"

"Rex," he said simply, flicking more ash to the ground.

"Nice to meet you." Talia said while moving slightly to prevent any ash from getting on her.

He noticed her scooting away. He held up his smoke, "I can put this out it makes you uncomfortable."

She shook her head. "No it's ok. I'm used to it, my dad smokes. I just don't want to get the ash on me."

He nodded, "Yeah, I hate when the ash gets on me, hate it more when I toss it out the car window and it flies back in and I have to try to find it while I'm driving." He put the cigarette to his lips and puffed another large cloud of smoke.

"I know the feeling. My dad's thrown a few cigarettes out the car window that have been pushed back in and hit me. I've been burned a few times from that." She muttered.

He nodded and sucked the last puff from it he could then put it on the ground and crushed it under his sneaker, "Whenever someone figures out that I smoke they tell all about how they'll kill or I'll get cancer and die, or some crap like that," he shrugged, "they're just one more thing to add to the list for me."

She shrugged. "It is a fact, but it's not gonna stop people. The only difference between smocking and other supposed 'bad lifestyle habits' is that people think it's ok to call smokers out." She frowned. "But what do you mean by 'one more thing to add to the list'?

He shrugged, "people flirt with death everyday, pretty much everything we do could kill us, humans are very delicate creatures. I've just excepted it so I don't let little things keep me from doing as I please."

She nodded slightly and looked down thinking.

"Sorry if I sound like a smart ass or I'm bumming you out or something," he chuckled and shifted in the chair, "let's talk about you now. What bad habits does Miss Talia have."

Talia laughed and looked back to him. "You're ok, don't worry. " She thought for a moment. "I've got a couple. Like, I have a bad habit of letting people tell me what to do."
((No you got it c: You can remember because it's like HeTalia, and I didn't base her name off that, I named my pet that several years before I watched that show. It's just a way to remember it c: ))

He mock-cringed, "that is bad. Talia, you gotta stand up for yourself in this world." He waited, hoping she had more habits to list.

"I know..." She paused a moment, "I also have a bad habit of... like saving food? Since I was a kid I'd end up eating half of what I got and saving the rest in case I needed it. Of course it ended up going bad and getting thrown out most of the time... It's really stupid, I know I don't need to, but I can't help it." She frowned, thinking for a moment. "I also have a couple small bad habits like forgetting things, but don't smoke or drink any thing."

He nodded, "I tend to loose my temper over real little things, and I'm way too overprotective of people, and those two things shouldn't mix." He twisted his fingers together and looked at the pavement.

She pauses and looked over to him. "I'm generally protective of my friends and family, but I'm also passive-aggressive. It's a pretty weird mix..." She watched him, not sure what else to say.

He shrugged, "That's nothing to be sorry for, or to be ashamed of. My cousin's like that. She's kinda aggressive, but wouldn't be caught dead in a fist fight."
