Certainly. Yes, there was an older, animated version that wasn't very good. I suppose it's okay for children, but from what I remember of it, Gollum looked like a giant raisin, and he lit a fire! He's a creature of darkness who hates light, and he lights a fire... and of course all the dwarves looked very silly.

I remember the animated version of Lord of the rings. I think the style of that movie was quite charming.

That's true. I have only seen parts of them; I think they did better with the early lord of the rings movies than the early chronicles of narnia, to be sure. I must confess that I am intrigued by old animation.
