Personal Quote: Life flows on within you and without you
Art is a huge part of my Life & family. As soon as I was old enough to hold a crayon & brush, my Dad & Grandfather taught me to draw & paint. My grandmother taught me how to sew when I was 6 or 7. I used to make my own doll clothes and stuffed animals. I made my own paper dolls, and little paper-doll houses in book-form.
Crafted some of my own toys with wire, tape, fake fur & paint. Used to hand craft dream catchers, some times with intricate designs & beading.
I always make my own Halloween costumes since Jr High. Used to do a TON of vector drawings and photo manipulation when I was 11 to 14. When I went to Junior Collage I took all the art classes I could. Drawing, painting, color theory, theater, costuming, theater makeup, puppetry, fashion, fashion history, ceramics, a guitar class, & a partridge in a pear treeeeee!
I love doing all these forms of art. But drawing and sewing are my specialty. So I continued on to get a BA in Fashion design & marketing. I have made lots of commissioned garments and designed lots of accessories. I adore fashion history. Especially corsets. I made my first corset in 2004 and have been obsessed with them ever since. I have worked and volunteered in lots of theater costume shops.
Puppetry is another fun form of art for me. I especially enjoy making Giant puppets.
My big fat hippy-commune family are all artistic and we do lots of family art together. I am currently learning to play the Ukulele, & I am a singer in a blue-grass band composed of family & c lose friends. But the best family art project of all is our annual haunted house!
The haunted house lets me use all of my artistic skills all in one big project!
I do:
Makeup design and application
Costuming
Set design & building
Acting
Directing scenes
Creating props
Mask making
Creating & operating Giant Puppets
Every year our family works really hard to be bigger-better-scarier. We all pour our hearts (and wallets lol ) into the haunted house. The best reward is the sweet sound of customers running into the night screaming, then walking back laughing.
At Christmas time our huge family does a secret Santa. Every single year when I draw a name out of the hat, I hand make and custom design a gift for that person. One year I got a black hoody jacket and hand painted a huge illustration of my friends favorite comic character on the back (Lady Death). Since then I have mad 5 custom hoodys, a custom hat with spikes, a puppet, a Gothic Lolita coat, and a custom bath robe.
And if all that wasn't diverse enough for ya I'm now in training to be a Tattoo Artist! Wish me luck on that guys & gals! I can't wait to get payed to draw for a living!
So hopefully that explains the huge variation in my submitted works
