Hi there! I see you're one of the few active members on the Pencil Animation Forums (Or at least the most well versed that I could find any way to contact without the forum since they apparently don't take new applications now, which kinda has me in a difficult spot, but I digress) The issue I'm having is that I'm using version 0.4.4, and I cannot export anything except png files from the project folder, and that is turning out to be a pretty massive inconvenience, since their transparency makes it impossible to see any of the linework I did. In addition, it won't let me export it as anything but "*all files" which is a serious problem. I cannot export as a jpeg, it creates empty image files that I can do absolutely nothing with. I love animating with pencil, but at the moment I am infuriated with its backwards attempt at an export function.Β
I'd really appreciate it if you could help, I'm at the end of my rope with this software.

Hi, Pencil development is now onΒ www.pencil2d.org/ ...
0.4 was very buggy so i strongly suggest you, at least, download the 0.5 here pencil-animation.org/forum/vie⦠or the latest one here www.pencil2d.org/pencil2d/#dow⦠.
One last thing you could try before, is to select the camera layer while exporting and when prompt with the "all file" name the file to *.png which i think it's the default format.
Don't use the .png from the project folder because it'll have the dimension of the drawing on each frame, by that i mean, it won't be the same across the animation...
If you're having problems with .png's, one workaround it's to import a white image to Pencil and placed on the first layer(with nothing else there) so when you export the animation, even with the .png format, it'll have the white background....
These are the quick tips, you should register on the new forum and ask folks there about anything you need..or you can still ask me here I'd be glad to help if i can

Hi!
The best tip i can give you it's to use it, it's that simple. Just run it and you'll find out all about it.
If you don't have a good notion about animation, start by drawing a simple shape -> add another keyframe and draw the same shape but now tweaking it a bit, this known as morph (when something morhps into something else) by doing that you'll understand the timmimg and then you can move on to more complex projects.
You can ask anything, anytime on the forum [link] , we're a small but united community and always willing to help each other

How do you post GIF files that are higher than 150x150 px? Because I'd keep trying it and keep getting errors.

You must also upload a ''cover'' for your gif that will work preview since bigger gif won't load on thumbnails, and it can be any still image(jpg, png...) but if you use a gif for preview then it must be small otherwise it just won't work...so remember: everytime you make a gif(bigger than 150x150) save a still image of it or a small gif version to be used as preview...you'll be prompt when submiting your gif to also upload a preview
Hope it helps

Hi-- I found you through the Pencil Animation forum and I have been trying to get a hold of someone. I wanted to download Ian's 0.5 version of the game because I was unable to use sound at all with .4.4b and I heard that 0.5 fixed some problems... But the link on the forum to Ian's version leads to a blog and not a download, and I was unable to make an account on the Forum because for some reason it never accepts my verification code. ><
