I am an admin for Dramatic-Photography and I was asked to try to find work to submit and feature so I am trying to figure it out using some of your work. Hope you dont mind. Could you let me know if you are getting requests to have requests for them to be submitted? I dont really know if I am doing this right. I tried two different things using 3350 and 1033.

I would love to meet up sometime and go shooting again. Chicago would be awesome. The d7000 is absolutely amazing, I really love it more every time I use it. I got it because I would like to start doing weddings (I have my first one in October and I just did the engagement shots a few weekends back) and was worried about low light situations. The overall quality is outstanding. Especially at higher ISOs. The metering, focus, white balance, everything is just spot on. It got it body only but I picked up a 50mm 1.8 not too long ago for portraits. Buying camera stuff is so painful but it might be my favorite purchase I have ever made. How about you? You get any new equipment lately or have you been better than me?

yeah photo equipment is very painful. i have slowly been collecting hardware for a lee filter setup but that is about it. i am shooting a wedding in september, i might buy a lens and a flash with the money i make (looking at the new 24-120 fixed f/4 nikkor, that would couple nicely with my 12-24 fixed f/4 nikkor), but i might just pocket that instead.

I would really like to get a lee setup. I guess I don't mind blending two exposures in photoshop but I would prefer to start using graduated nd filters. I didn't know you had the fixed 12-24, very nice. I would really like to get another speedlight too. Someday, if I start doing more studio portraits, I will get some actual lighting but for now I am probably going to stick with speedlights with beauty dishes or softboxes. Maybe I told you this already, I can't remember. I am shooting a wedding in Oct. too so you will have to let me know how yours goes. I definitely want to do some more. Its great side money to at least feed the hobby.

MsSnippy In reply to aktinos [2011-06-02 02:18:26 +0000 UTC]
the bird is a tufted titmouse, uhh I'm not totally sure what kind of charcoal but it says General's Charcoal white-558. and used a good blending tool. the black charcoals I do not know what they are, doesn't say.

amazing work! wondering what lens you use for your landscapes? and what filters you use? I want to get the lee big stopper, but looking for reference pics first..

I shoot using a B+W ND110 with a slim B+W CP. I want a big stopper as well, mainly for ease of composing and just having to slide a filter in. I would like to get some graduated ND's as well.
Composing and setting up the screw in is a pain, more so than you realize before you own the thing, but the results have been great with it.

somesoul In reply to aktinos [2011-05-06 08:01:20 +0000 UTC]
thanks, from what I've read elsewhere, the B+W ND110 gives off a brownish colour cast? And the big stopper gives a blueish cast.. I guess these things can be corrected in photoshop.

aktinos In reply to somesoul [2011-05-10 01:38:36 +0000 UTC]
yeah both are easily corrected, although i believe the color cast may be stronger for the big stopper from various reviews i have seen

what kind of filters do u use (if any) ?

aktinos In reply to punks101 [2011-01-11 20:29:52 +0000 UTC]
I use a B+W circular polarizer on most of my work, for any long exposures I am using a B+W ND110. I am trying to get my hands on a lee big stopper at the moment so I can use 4x6 grads as well.
