I understand you like it, I just am not happy to see something I drew that I like being stuck in the same favorites folder as fur girls with giant tits and spread legs showing their shiny labia. I wasn't drawing cheesecake.

That's asking somebody if they like to breathe. Of course I like to draw. I just don't have the time to do it anymore.

Now I think I might ask you: Do you like make drawings!
Sorry, sometimes I don't write very good the words in english!!!
I like draw too! . I show you the first drawing I made with the program you recommended to me (Gimp) posted in my account: [link]
You think what I improved my art with this program (a bit)? Do you think of my drawing?

Oh I guess you didn't understand what I said the first time: I like to draw. I enjoy drawing. It's fun. At times I'm a bit frustrated because I don't have the time to practice, but I still like to do it when I find the time.
What do I think of your drawing? It's...a beginner's art. It's not very good. I'm sorry, but that's what it is and I think I should be honest. I really can't say you've improved, looking at the rest of your gallery. You need to keep drawing, and practice a lot by looking at real things around you and drawing them. Don't look at other artists' work when you're going to draw, and don't compare yourself to them. Look at a real dog, a real person, a real chair...and then draw them. Don't hide hands, draw them. Don't draw every person in that same pose, facing the viewer, face turned a bit to the left. Draw things that are hard so you'll get better at them. Don't use such fat lines, try using thinner lines so you have no choice but to draw more details like buttons on clothes or fingers on hands. Don't use the line tool, make yourself learn how to draw straight lines. Don't use straight lines for things that have no straight lines in them, like humans. We are made of curves.
Here are some links to free art books that teach you things to know when drawing. They might help you: [link]
Please remember that no matter what program you use, you the human is what is doing the drawing. That's why what programs you use won't matter. You're the one who has the skill needed to draw. The program is just a tool you use.
Also you should delete those screenshots from your gallery. They do not belong on DeviantArt. This is an art site, not a screenshot site.

Only I wanna aclare two things for you understand it:
1-I like to looking works of much artists of Deviantart
2-The past year when I thought artists of DA (deviantart) draw better than me,I could not avoid not thinking about it!
Yesterday I passed for your link and read it: [link]
I drew myself for Gimp and I mentioned you in it:

But don't let yourself be unhappy just because there are artists who draw better than you. For every artist, there's somebody who is better than them. If you compare yourself to others, you'll only get depressed.
As for the thing you drew...it's a start, but I don't think you get the idea. I'm not saying draw yourself, I'm saying look at yourself in a mirror and draw exactly what you see. Look at a tree outside and draw that tree just how it looks. Don't do cartoony art of the tree, don't do a cartoon of yourself. What I'm talking about is called life drawing, and it means to practice art by looking at things in real life and drawing them how they are seen. Like these: [link]
That's life art by an artist who doesn't normally draw like that. He draws women with big squishy boobs, tiny waists, and big shiny butts. But he's still a good artist, because he practices drawing from life. He takes classes where he draws models, but you don't need to do that to improve. Just draw the things around you, and don't make them into cartoons when you do it. Draw it how you see it. And please, stop using big thick lines when you draw. If you use thin lines you can see details better.
I know this is a lot of things to learn, and it can be confusing, but you will need patience and you will need time. You won't see results, but if you draw for 20 minutes a day doing life drawings, you will improve.

1 week ago when I read this reply yours: [link]
To the beginning I didn't react very good but later I reflected a bit about this!
I didn't think If I compare with others artists I would end depressed!
You try to tell me what I draw life drawings through pencil and paper and not for the program Gimp?
And I passed for [link] and I found in his account a group with tutorials to draw and I read some tutorials of it!
Sorry I didn't answer you in time!

Critiques and advice on art can be hard to hear, but it's important to remember that these things are said to help you. I wasn't trying to hurt you. I want your art to get better.
Pencil and paper would be better, because there is no "undo". You can't ctrl + Z in real life. Using a computer instead of pencil won't make you a better artist anyway. GIMP is a tool, not a magic device to make shiny art.

Actually render doesn't mean what they say it means. A render is a created image, as is it's "rendered" by the artist. It usually applies to 3D models, which are rendered in programs like Blender.
GFX "artists" who thought they were cool and clever started using it to apply to the images they stole and put in their wallpapers and banners. It's just a misuse of a term by kids who want to seem like they're artists when they're really just thieves.

Gene and I are planning on trying for a baby in a year or so. LOL. We are getting our house built and, hopefully, it'll be done in the next few weeks. Plus I just decided to go back to college to study Game Design. Keeping myself busy all around. Congrats on the baby!! ^^

I'm mostly doing it for myself and my web comic. Thought to take my web comic and make it into a visual novel and game for my readers to enjoy. ^^ Not too worried about making it into an actual career.

how'd you know to look that deeply into it?
π: 0 β©: 1
anniefelis In reply to digitalbird06 [2011-02-06 03:08:43 +0000 UTC]
Because I was browsing popular and I saw one of the kitty pictures he posted. It was pretty grainy and pixelized, and the description/title was "cats". Not everybody puts in a thorough description when posting their photos or art, but usually they have more than a generic thing to say like "cats". Seeing that set off alarm bells, I looked at his gallery and sure enough the photography subjects, styles and quality didn't match....nor did the camera information (not all of them even had camera information).
