# About me

To me, digital art is as much an art form as traditional painting. Ultimately, both are the products of the ingredient common to both - imagination, regardless of the tools or methods used. Although I must admit, I find how brush strokes can create the illusion of reality to be a fascinating thing.

I do art because I like to see how close I can come to the visions swirling in my imagination. More often than not, I can't reproduce them exactly. But I try. I put on Tchaikovsky and have at it. I go where imagination takes me. Art fills a need for me.

I live alone, my wife - and model - passed away in 2009. But, because of hundreds of photos, she still poses for me - as do other members of my family. When in need of other faces, I do composites or create them in Poser.

I am a hiker and just a walker around St. Pete where I live. or used to be, I should say. I've hiked into the Arizona Superstition Mountains three times, and the North Dakota Badlands more than once, for instance. I enjoy nature and taking pictures. I'm forever poking a camera into places I maybe shouldn't. But it has created a great source of reference material for me for parts to use in my renders, or for distortions for render ideas.

I read a lot, both fiction and non-fiction. And I'm a movie buff, watching something with almost every dinner.

I keep hoping for a masterpiece in my art, which may never happen but it's fun trying. "It is the chase and not the game."
