Hi Dave. You are on Facebook; aren't you?
I bought a styling model at an antique store.
I think it might be from Ford/Lincoln.
Keep an eye out on FB in the next few days.
I'll be posting a picture of it.
I would love to trace the history behind it.

Hey Dave!
Stop by my DA space. I posted the Sarantos 40. I have looked for a copy of the original for a really long time and was unable to come up with one... until last night! One of the fellows on the HAMB sent me a color image. It was fantastic. Have a good weekend.

I think the work on your page is amazing and you are so fortunate to be in possession of these works, the latest works are as interesting as all the others.

I would love to own a piece of this work but feel you should start a museum either on line a physical museum or both, these works in my opinion are important and also vey pleasing to see

Thanks for the note.

Regards Jeff

Hi, I think the looser someone is when they start out the more they work on a good design. my friend Bill Michalak went to Pratt. When they hired him at G.M he had to go to CCS to improve his renderings. He knew surface detail though and had an engineers understanding of that. most of the Olds stuff you see was done by him after spending only about 6 months at CCS. I imagine in short order you will be doing it all on computer. The guys who can draw well manually still design the best cars. The best drawings are exagerated in my opinion.

I'm working one one right now that you may like.
For years I have searched for a rendering that Alex Tremulis did.
It's a car he did for his wife; called the Sarantos.
I never found anything but a small print in a magazine.
So I recreated it as close to the original as I could.
Keep an eye out for it.

I think there is a good photo of that art in the automobile quarterly with an article on him before he died. Art Ross a glory day designer has his art on a website called the art of art ross. worth checking out. His son sells prints of the stuff.

Hi I didn't draw them I've been collecting them for a good number of years. I know many of Detroits glory days designers. glad you enjoy them, I'm only submitting pieces not framed as my framed pieces don't photograph all that well with the glass

What a gifted artist. I'm completely over the top for the samurai and the boar. How much do pieces like those two go for.

nice collection, glad to see you're salvaging old renderings
Do you have any of Bill Porter's old work by any chance?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cadillacstyle In reply to Carstyler11 [2011-02-17 22:41:48 +0000 UTC]

Hello, no Bill I guess from talking with Bill Michalak and John Perkins never really saved any of his art. I've seen a few pieces over the years but no chance of buying them. Chet Limbaugh from Chrysler just put up a site that is expanding with his designs as a lifetime Chrysler stylist. Chet is a talented guy.

Carstyler11 In reply to cadillacstyle [2011-02-17 22:48:19 +0000 UTC]

ahh I see, that's cool. It's always inspiring to see all the talented renderings that designers used to do back before we could use the 'undo' button in Photoshop
I saw a collection of old renderings in Saginaw, MI after Bill Porter gave a lecture on the history of design, it was intimidating to see that level of talent
