I've read that you do that since you were a child. How did you find that passion so early?

My grandfather was a juweler and I would go to his store and tinker around as a child. At 8 he thought me how to carve wood which transferred into carving wax and when I was about 13 he gave me my own jewelry bench and so on.
I have always loved building things and working with my hands.

Wow! That's a wonderful way to learn a craft like that. It was more like growing into this craft I guess.
And the fact that you still feel passion for it, is a wonderful thing.
Things we create with our hands hold a part of our heart in them. At least I feel like that when I create things with my own hands.
I hope you can answer me a question that I often have in my mind.
If we take an object like a simple ring or any other round object and we want to add a complex pattern around it that seems to have no beginning or end, how would you make sure that the complex pattern has exactly the size to fit exactly around the object without having to have a part that looks a little bit shorter or longer than the rest? Or is there a trick to trick the eye?

I would typically find the circumstance then design the pattern of the length and make each object to the correct size. So for instance if I have a repeated pattern and I have 55 mm in the circumstance and I wold like it on there 10 times I know my repeated pattern needs to be 5.5 mm long for each pattern.Β
Does that help?

So you measure even the complicated patterns somehow. Thank you!
I thougth of doing it that way, but for some patterns it seemed very complicated to me, but the only solution. Now I know that it is really the solution.
I am thinking for a while now of doing some stuff in wood that might have different patterns on them. Now I feel a bit safer in knowing what I am about to do.

You can use programs like Corel Draw to recreate the pattern and adjust the vector image to the exact length. For instance a Celtic knot that repeats. Once you draw 1 section you can copy and past each section. Then adjust it accordingly for the correct length.

That's a good idea. Thank you.
That way I can print it in 1:1 and would also have a direct reference.
For not too tiny objects I even could project it onto the surface to find a good start if I'm not sure about myself.
