I suppose I do have time for a rhyme
It is, of course, not a crime
I think I speak for everyone
That, once the day is over and done
We deserve to have some fun!

and why not, says I, when so plain to see
is the joy of aural similarity;
a tonal construction
from clever deduction
of language and tonal parity...

Troubles and worries can make life horrid
Dries up morale and leaves us torrid
I do detest that plague of stress
Because life is all about living the best

'best' as a concept, of course, may be
a measure thats fittingly arbitrary
for who's to define
the finishing line
in the race to live life comfortably?

it's an insular scale
of exclusive detail.
the unique-to-yourself
emotional wealth
is defined by your personal tale

and thus in conclusion
to achieve a profusion
of perfected and beauteous harmony
seek to be the author
(a right geoffry chaucer)
of life's delectable poetry

now go forth and educate
the world, for this demonstrates
that you have so much to teach them.
and with that all said
now im going to bed
cos its almost 3am...

Hey Luther! Sorry for taking like, a week to reply...

Thanks a bunch, man! I'm glad you dig it all. I do so like to be appreciated (Though ironically, compliments naturally make me uncomfortable. Just a little fact for you there! haha!)

I think it's admirable that youre making real effort to get your head around colour theory as you are. I've never been quite so focused as that, and really all my style and 'skills' come from drawing the same sort of stupid stuff over and over and over... And then being forced to do it properly because I accidentally got a job... Never underestimate the driving force of pressure!

Oh were you meant to link to senh's stuff in that comment by the by??

Ahh maybe I will. I mean.. chances are I wont be able too as I have many works to do.. and also I'm gonna be spending the weekend kicking it at a Correspondents gig ([link] ) (Not literally all weekend..) But if i think of something.. and have the time.. and inclination
I might just do that..
recognition recognition.. when's the deadline?? 1 week from.. yesterday?? Ok cool..

(I dont even know what these points are exactly. I.. don't keep up...)

Oh, you added me to your watch, didnt you! Wonderful, thank you!

kihanas-spirit In reply to child-clueless [2011-02-21 09:57:09 +0000 UTC]

OH YES. That one... "Accessory fruit" (--> learned how to categorize fruits in bio). That poor fruit has been neglected from my fruit basket, I think I'll give him a visit. What has it been? Like 7 years since I last had one?

Hmm.. Correspondents... I'm ashamed to say but I don't know them. But I checked out their music video for Washington Square just now and I've gotta say, I'm pretty jealous of their fashion sense. I need to get myself one of those casual penguin suit jackets.

Seems like that gig is going to be pretty fun, seems like those guys are the spontaneous type so their going to probably do something random as fuck instead of routine. I've only been to one concert before but the audience was so lame! I was the only one dancing out of 100,00+ people. Really awkward moment there you know? I need to one of those kickass european concerts, us americans are too fat and lazy to actually move

and damn straight I'm adding you to my watch! It's WAY overdue. haha I think the whole points thing is like paying to get points on an online game so you can buy something that's not real. But I thought the idea sounded fun

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

child-clueless In reply to kihanas-spirit [2011-02-22 15:25:16 +0000 UTC]

Haha they're such an ignored fruit! Criminally so... They sell them in the supermarket across from us as 'already ripe' which is great. You dont have to wait for them to ripen you can just buy them and throw yourself into the sweet pear-y wonder.
Doooo iiiiiit!!!

They're excellent fun! I usually wear jackets and waistcoats and ties and the like, but they gave me an excuse to also wear an awesome bowler hat. And my god how we danced!
There were so many people and so little room and it was so hot but it didn't stop us!. The atmosphere was just excellent. Then afterwards they played lots of Motown and 50s Rock so we danced some more! We danced basically solidly for about 6 hours!

Ah I guess some people like to be stolid and just enjoy the music, but its so much fun to really get into it! You can't half-arse gigs, you gotta go to enjoy it.
You've only been to one gig?? Aaaaaw! I love live music, so much better than clubs.. Who did you see??
I can't afford to go to gigs as much as I would like at the moment, but back in my teens we used to go all the time. I've seen some wicked good gigs.
Radiohead, Muse (before they got terrible...), Nine Inch Nails, Queenadreena (Absolutely nuts!!), Andrew Bird was great.. The Correspondents were definitely up there with the best though

Heeheh. I'm so rubbish at remembering to do things.. I totally forgot about the contest! I usually leave windows or tabs open to remind me, but after replying to your message it wasn't in my message centre thing anymore so I completely forgot! I think the deadline's today. Disaster..

kihanas-spirit In reply to child-clueless [2011-02-25 09:57:07 +0000 UTC]

AH MAN!!! I don't have that same luxury to indulge into your degree of "pear-y wonder" (safeway and albertsons just doesn't cut it) but I will siege on forward to visit that poor neglected fruit nonetheless.

Oh that freakin annoys me (responding to the disappearance of the message after replying). It's such a pain in the ass. They should make a setting more like emails or just have the replied messages go to an "old message" box or something.

That sounds so freakin fun. Damn. I really need to go out to gigs more. And a RAVE!!!! My brother has those LED lights (used to call them LSD by mistake but totally works lol) which are so freakin kickass in the dark. (we sometimes play songs on his amp and have our own light show) I'm stealing those and planning to hit a rave but when?! And with who?!! I want to go so bad!! (but my friends are not really into that T^T)

As for the gig I went to, I went to a Rihanna concert and was like 4 rows away from her. She's awesome live and beautiful and made me turn gay there for a moment.

Radiohead (check), Muse (before the got terrible) [double check--> especially on the footnote] but the rest I don't know. Have to check them out. I've been pretty illiterate regarding music lately with favs ranging from tecno, dubstep to rock and then japanese. haha call me weird but I actually love listening to Japenese music. Definitely an asain born into a caucasian body. Well it works right, just take out the cauc and you got my true self...

that sounded really wrong didn't it

Oh man I'm so sorry for the delay in replying! I was having stupid crisis with uni work, its driving me crazy!!
What were we talking about now.. Oh pears! Hahaa!
We have a mango now but I just cant be bothered to eat it.. I want to but mangos take cutting and getting the stone out and getting the flesh out and its just too much effort!
I want instant gratification with my fruit. This is the modern would, no time to wait!

Yess we need more control over our correspondence. That said, I'd probably just get confused over what I've replied to and what I haven't. At the moment its like, its gone so I assume ive done.. something.. replied I guess.

Hehehe. Its cool to go to a mix of gigs. I've been to lots of rock stuff, but also electro and more kinda drum and bassish stuff is cool for dancing. I saw the Chemical Brothers at a festival aaaages ago with my sister, it was awesome! Totally crazy but super cool.
But then I love seeing people who are just obviously incredible musicians. Andrew Bird was like that, he is just so incredibly natural on the violin it makes me equal parts happy and intensely jealous..

Hahahah Oh Rihanna. A few of my friends went to a 'Rihanna's Birthday' event the other day. Not the actually Rihanna birthday event, but a club night in London where I guess they.. celebrated in her absence?? I don't know.
Can't honestly say I'm a faaaan really though..
I dont know, but if she puts on a good show..

Oh I'm so sick of Dubstep, seriously! The town I live in just plays it everywhere, it drives me nuts!
I'm getting into chip tunes a bit recently. Chip tunes and Keygen music.
So retroooo! Haha!

Don't worry, I dont think anyone noticed..

Uuuhm actually I kinda have a rule wherein Facebook is for people I know person to person you know?? Otherwise I'm just gonna loose track..
But I'll add you on Deviantart so we can still keep up to date! We will be Deviantart friends. Excellent times.

Hey! It's been a while! I spontaneously decided that I'm going to draw you something for the holidays. Why? idk don't ask. lol But is there something you would like me to draw? Any fav characters?

Oh and I thought of this really cool but eerie idea for a drawing. Don't know how the hell I'll be able to do it but it would be awesome if I did.

In case you care...
There was this song that I danced to in a shower cap and tutu when I was 5 that had the lines "I'm gonna wash that man right out of my head". Inspired by those lines I decided to do a digital painting of a woman washing her hair in the shower having the perspective work so that you can see her feet and the glass door. The film in her hair has blood and at her feet is a pool of diluted blood with a blood splatter on the glass door. And since the shower makes the glass foggy, all you can see beyond it is blurry hints of a body. So essential she is literally "washing that man right out of her head". Haha eerie huh? I'm not usually this morbid lol.

Whaaa?? Really? How sweet.. kinda out of nowhere, but totally cool!
Man, what to choose!! hmmm...
I'm gonna hve to think about this.. I'm so bad when put on the spot.. hmmm.
I will have something the next time you reply, for sure!

Hehehe sounds pretty good. You should use tracing paper. Layer it up and try drawing on the back of it, see what effect it gives. We're constantly encouraged to experiment with different or unusual media on my course. I mean... I never do, but I really should..
Buuut if youre working digitally.. I dunno.. layers. Layers layers layers...
Actually I'm trying to cut down on my use of layers. My images get so large because they end up with hundreds of layers. I'm attempting a more painterly approach, using layers for detail or experiments or just to make some bits easier. then flatten it all down, hooray!!
Also stopped using brushes for things like blood and clouds etc. You's gots ta learn how to do it yourself!!

But yeah, morbid can be cool. There's a pretty morbid image I've had in mind for a while now. It's not gory or anything. just really... blackly comic?? I'm not sure if people will find it funny or not.. I don't know.. In fact, it's not really meant to be funny haha really.. (oh man my attempts at vague explanation are terrible..) One day I'll actually have time to give it a go.. till then it will remain a surprise for all.. mehehehe..

S

Shaun Tan I do not know. I will have to have a look at some point...

OH MAN, you need to look at his book called "The Arrival", both art works and book cover design are done very beautifully. I first found out about him back in high school, it took me FOREVER to find his book!Luckly Borders had the last copy of it...=__=
Anyways...
I have WAY too many artists I love..so I'm just going from the top of my head. My favorite artists are "J.C Leyendecker", "Ayami Kojima", "Yoshitaka Amano" and "Alfons Mucha".

child-clueless In reply to ScaredyKat [2010-10-15 16:14:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow that looks incredible! i'm seriously tempted to buy that book!
i'm going to add it to my 'to buy' folder...
Despite doing an illustration course and being interested in producing graphic novels, im never really sure where to start with them. I think its partly because i rarely have money to spend on them so I just havent had the chance to properly explore...
Im trying to think which ones I have which are decent.. I like my indie comics, and have loads which ive been meaning to buy...
whats good about the indie scene is you can get a lot of similar stuff online for free (hooray!!)
webcomics like octopus pie and anders loves maria are really good story/character driven things. i like a decent story!

i can definitely see a theme over these artists.. i knew Amano and vaguely recognise some of the others for sure. something a bit art nouveau about some of them, and classic pin up about others.

One of my favourite artists is a guy called Arnau Allemany. He's a Spanish painter and he paints these urban landscape scenes which have a fantastically surreal sense of isolation and degredation. Everythings slightly over grown or rusted and falling to bits, and the buildings are often half made up of junk cars and planes. its hard to explain it and make it sound good, and theres not a whole lot of his stuff online, and his sites been down for years, but you can easily find some with our good friend google.

and oh man there was this photographer whos name i just cant remember. he build huge sets with full movie style lighting rigs. There was a particular photo of an empty street in the middle of the night.
Ah what was his name?! how annoying!!

child-clueless In reply to jester10632 [2010-10-06 01:09:51 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm well I'd suggest thinking widely when it comes to sci-fi. The whole thing about good sci-fi is that imagined worlds are properly conceived. Try thinking about things outside of weapons and spaceships (which is often what people imagine when thinking of a sci-fi game..) and try designing things like workers uniforms and tools, everyday items, Or if you do do weapons and armour etc, then think about designing insignia and variations on armour according to class.
Do like a whole line from private up through major, even up to like... emperor... royal armour or something. Design a whole race and their identity and military branding or something! Though that may be a pretty epic undertaking...

I mean, I've been thinking about sci-fi stuff a bit recently cos I'm entering the EVE design a starship competition, but in between all the schematics stuff and plans and all that jazz I've been drawing mining mechs and workers. One day I might get round to colouring and uploading some stuff (My tutors told me to stop doing fan art, already!)

But yeah, think about it! Think mundane and then think future mundane.
