Thank you for the cake I'm doing well, probably juggling too many projects at the same time right now, but things are moving forth little by little! How are things for you?

I'm in a similar boat with the juggling part.
But the demands of making ends meet has pretty
much robbed me of my personal time and energy.
I can't seem to catch a break. Once in a blue, I'll manage
a drawing or a post or two, but I haven't been as consistent nor
productive as I would like to be.
Sad to say, I'm just too busy to do art.
Even with every efforts of improvising, I get mentally tired, when I push
to make time for it. But all I can do is continue to press forward, and manage
in anyway possible. I've always been a fighter at heart, so I'm not giving up.
Things could be better, and in other areas of my life, things has gotten better.
It's just when it comes to the art department, that's the one area in my life, I could
barely accomplish. I'd have to fight tooth and nails to get it going somehow. My situation
doesn't seem to support me as an artist. So, I really have to push for it somehow.
Sometimes, I went as far as pretending to go to work on my days off, just so I can find a quiet
spot on the luxury yacht at my job, and work on my writing and drawings without any further
distractions. Before hand, I'd have to study the white board for boat schedules, crew, best place
of entry and exit of the boats. I'm well, technically a "ninja" artist. I've gotten good at it with each
practice, but I don't do it very often, since it's wise not to push my luck. So I only do it discreetly, if I have no other way to work on my project. That's my rare ace card. XD
At home I have no solitude, and in every home that I have moved to, I never had the luxury to concentrate on
art and writing. I always had to improvise. But the lack of time and practice in getting better at art suffers. Too many setbacks in my life, makes it harder for me to improve or practice. So, I'm forced to work with what I know.
I need the opportunity and it's the one thing I can't seem to get ahold of. I'll have to keep fighting for it and hope for the best.

Sorry for the very late reply! I'm so sorry to hear about you not having time for art - and I totally get that (The reason I havent replied yet, too! This week has been soooo busy!)
But that you are able to sneak on a yacht and just draw there for a bit is great! Do take care of yourself. Sometimes its necessary to cut some corners for some peace and quiet, and I get that
Though one thing I did notice is that if your time is much more limited to do art, you tend to get more, and especially better stuff that in that time. Because you pent up all the energy and then let it out in bursts. I feel similarly when I have ideas and inspirations in my head while I'm at work, and then I get home and just release them. Whereas, when I try to be productive on a day off or a weekend day, I'm far less productive because I can do things at my own time, and that's just never helpful Some people need the pressure I hope you will find a good time and place to do art regularly soon 2019 is still young, it might still hold some surprises

Thanks so much!
It's totally ok. real life does take priority and
I'm glad you're doing well. DA community is like
a digital home that will always be here at the end of the
day and we all have a place to log in and unwind and share our
real life adventures here online. Never a dull moment I always say. XD
I like that key word you mentioned, "letting it out in burst." That gave me
confirmation to an epiphany I would have had. I already implemented
a more simpler tactic in setting smaller goals. And drawing a single panel in a comic
page is like little burst here and there. Everyday, I would draw a little something,
even if it was a line or two, eventually, what ever I wasn't able to get out will eventually
burst out. I may have to simply sift out the art blockage, like a creative funnel. That just might
actually work for me. Thanks so much for sharing this.
I'll totally update my journal with this in mind of what I hope to accomplish.
It'll be the next tactical move.

Haha, I'm glad to have helped you in your way to knowing yourself better
I realized this last year, when I was writing my long-term Project "Counterbalance", an audio-drama script with 45 episodes, of which I wrote 25 episodes over the course of 3 months in summer. I always went outside with my tablet to write while I herded my 5 Bunnies in the garden. But the more time I had, the more I was slouching. I always stayed outside from the time I got home until the sun set, which in summer was very close to 10pm. Eventually, summer ended and the days became shorter and shorter, but surprisingly, my productivity increased.
Then at some point, I had to stay around at home in the morning to let some technicians in for flat maintenance, and had 15 minutes to spare. I popped up my tablet and started writing random dialogue ideas I had, and suddenly I had written a whooping 5 pages of dialogue that also fixed some problems I was having with a certain story ark. And that's when the thought hit me, that creativity comes out in bursts
Since then I try to use every spare minute I have to do something creative or productive, even if its just for 5-10 minutes. What's off the list is off the list

That's awesome. Keeping an eye open for windows of opportunities, is
certainly something that I need to stay sharp on.
I always carried my notebook and drawing papers in my backpack, almost
where ever I go for that reason. Though I may not have had many opportunities,
but there had been rare instances where I was determined to create them, if I could. ^^
