Hi! Doing obligatory pimping for Polished Poetry Competition . It's run this year by ~BibleOfDOOM . It's an amazing opportunity to be published in one of Australia's most prestige journals. This year they're in their 26 year. So, enter, pimp and love and you will have my eternal (I would be very grateful).

You pick whichever green[s] you want. I am honored in receiving even a patch of green naval lint... knowing that it isn't alive and has migrated up from your crotch. (I'm glad and disturbed that I came to read that wiki article).
I'm sure he does. I'm still unsure about mine.

Sadly, the belly button lint chronicles were alive and well (well, not, 'well', but rather, present) and i was the one suffering from severe gagholdbackinitis as I read it aloud to you two.
I should shave all hair between my legs and my naval to ensure no naval lint finds its way there.

I don't know if I've recommended it to you already, and I don't know where you can stream it, but please watch Heima. It explains a lot.
(on a side note, I was going to get this tattooed in small scrawl near the hairline on my neck during my stay in Reykjavik, but the "Skinnlist" is closed today, and this may be a sign that that might be a rash decision. nevertheless, to know what it is to be at Home and at the same time be a sucker for symbology, it is very hard to resist.)

Also, do you actually remember the spelling of each city you have visited there, or is it more conscious than appears? Reykjavik would make for a good password if you threw in some numbers. maybe r3ykj4vik. Look how strong that password is!

WeirdAlbatross In reply to musicofesis [2010-06-22 02:38:57 +0000 UTC]
Believe me...trying to pronounce the places correctly is MUCH harder than trying to spell them. Icelanders slur and mush everything! Landmannalaugar is pronounced LAND-mann-a-lar. But most words and towns that are really long are just simple, obvious words melded together. For instance, the big bad famous one, EyjafjallajΓΆkull can be broken up into Eyja (island), Fjalla (mountain), JΓΆkull (glacier). These are easy words to remember and spell on their own, and the volcano is pretty obviously a lone mountain under a glacier. Reyk is the root word for "smoke." And VΓk is our equivalent of town or port or whatever. So Reykjavik just means "smoking port" because it is always foggy and looks like it's smoking.
..sorry for the language lesson..
That is a super amazing password! But now I can't use it because you already know it! Hahaha. ;]

musicofesis In reply to WeirdAlbatross [2010-06-29 17:51:05 +0000 UTC]
Landmanalar would be such an easier spelling :/
I guess their place names make more sense. I mean, I live in Peterborough which is from Peter's Borough because Peter Robinson settled here. Pretty boring. I'd rather live in Smokingport than Peterborough.
Also, I liked the words 'root' and 'smoke' in close proximity because I thought about how smoke roots up in the breeze (:
A week later I've forgotten the password, and since I wouldn't know your login names or emails you'd be safe. That and I promise I would never do anything to your stuff.
π: 0 β©: 1
WeirdAlbatross In reply to musicofesis [2010-06-30 00:45:19 +0000 UTC]
Stumbling over silent letters give one character! :]
At least your Peterborough has a reason behind it. I don't know why my Peterborough is even called Peterborough. But it's better than something lame like Sharon or New Ipswich.
Your smoke roots remind me of the fireflies outside right now. Do you get fireflies where you live?
Too late! I forgot exactly how the password looked, too! I'll have to dig for it. But I appreciate your promise.
p.s. in one of your comments you switched the beginnings of two words and it was cute, and i was going to comment on it, but i forgot to, and now i don't even remember which words were switched. fail.

musicofesis In reply to WeirdAlbatross [2010-07-01 03:22:02 +0000 UTC]
One what? I thingk it gives them more character than I, the foreigner, stumbling all over the place aha.
They probably just thought that my town was so cool, that they'd name your place after it. Still, "Sharon" is like, mother in her 30s town. It's like naming a city Phyllis.
I wish I did. i've seen them before locally, but not in my place.; On the other hand, I walked 4k from the bank today with two ladybugs on my hand (:
p.s. I realized it after I wrote it :/ but I left it because A) I liked it better that way and B) I thought you would appreciate it (: I too forget which words though. One or both started with a c though.

WeirdAlbatross In reply to musicofesis [2010-07-03 04:06:20 +0000 UTC]
And now we are back to the Icelanders who don't mean to be inaccessible, but automatically exclude the foreigners by their impossible language.
I dunno, Phyllis seems even older, like from the 40s. Dolores would be even worse. XD
(Dolores means sorrowful.)
I do not like ladybugs because they pee on me like grasshoppers. Have you ever caught a fish with your bare hands? What about a bird?

musicofesis In reply to WeirdAlbatross [2010-07-03 12:20:46 +0000 UTC]
I have never had ladybugs pee, only grasshoppers. At this point I am paranoid that I just couldn't see the pees. Maybe it peed and i didn't know. Did I eat anything with my hands? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Once I had salmonella when I was four or five years old. I remember vomiting violently for an extended period. Perhaps a month. It was one of the most physically painful experiences I've ever had. They always tell you not to eat raw eggs or meat or fish for fear of salmonella, but I loved to catch frogs and salamanders in my back yard, and one day I did not wash my hands afterward. This is the real main cause of salmonella.
Don't worry. You can't get it from ladybugs. :]

ONE DAY? You touched a frogamander once and ate some food and you puked for a month? Didn't people get high off of frogs for awhile? To think, you either get high or you puke for a month. Eweweweweweweweew ew ew eew.
But, I can still end up eating ladybug pee :s
π: 0 β©: 1
WeirdAlbatross In reply to musicofesis [2010-07-03 21:56:35 +0000 UTC]
Well, not just once. Every day I would go out and catch frogs. Just one day I forgot to wash my hands or something. People got high of frogs. But they also get high off of mushrooms today. And puke because of mushrooms.
At any rate, you would see lady bug pee. Or feel it. It's coppery colored.

musicofesis In reply to WeirdAlbatross [2010-07-03 22:26:03 +0000 UTC]
So you got a little too high and felt the consequences then? I see how it is.
If you froze ladybug pee, could you sell it as copper? Copper goes for quite a bit these days.

I hope your visitation and giftery is going well. I have to pop into work to clean up something i left there yesterday, and then I have a (stupid weekly) family dinner tonight (that i never want to be at). Maybe I will get lucky and see you tonight. If not, enjoy it!
Also, I didn't see you this morning when i closed my eyes, but I did a hunt trying to find you. You left clues everywhere. It was lovely.

WeirdAlbatross In reply to musicofesis [2010-07-05 05:30:25 +0000 UTC]
I hope your family dinner was more joyful than usual, and your mother was less of a Nazi than usual. My friend always one ups me on gifts, and then I feel guilty, but I do like nice gifts.
I hope they were good clues. But that would explain why I fell down a deep hole and woke up with a start, sodden and searching for Moby*. Maybe tonight will be more successful.
*Moby is an ugly giant man eating dolphin pillow of choice.

I want you to click "original" there to the left and note that you said that you do like (nice) gifts. So, therefore, your arguments as of last night are voided, and if I so wish, may buy material goods with the intent of blasting them your way. But really, this is a nice earring. Can you not fill a spacer with playdoh and then push the pin of the earring into the playdoh? That could work well.
In the dream when i was clue hunting you down, they made little sense (though perhaps I couldn't understand them), yet somehow I always managed to find the next. Last night you and I had a canoe fight. We had ultralight (or we were ultrastrong) canoes that bounced off like foam swords and were swinging them around. It was great fun until my dream turned to scholastic stuff. Boo. My start time for course enrolment is almost 11am on the 26th. It's so late. All my courses are going to be full! ): Boooooooo.
Do you drool when you sleep? I didn't think I did until this morning. Maybe it's a one time thing. Or someone with thin semen gave me a facial while I slept.

IT'S STILL FALSE! I mean surprises! I like it when people keep nice gifts from me forever and keep me anxious and expectant and guessing. I like being in anticipation, possibly even more than the actual climax of happening. I am a process child. This could be applied to any situation.
At any rate, I am not at the size yet to have tunnels or skins, but once I am, I will do the playdoh earring bit just for you, although it will look silly. Why don't you pierce your own ear?
I met Carey's boyfriend for the first time today when they came to deliver me food while I was painting. He is a gorgeous specimen accented with tattoos and plugs, and is quite good for her. Despite her occasional complaints about his moodiness or neediness, he radiates vibes on the same level. He feels very safe. My point being, it is so refreshing and comforting to feel these similar vibes from new people after living in a world that is primarily not of this wavelength. Knowing this in that moment made me ten times as excited to see you!
Maybe this was because we were talking about kayaks? I can't lift a kayak by myself, but we can certainly have a kayak war, if you are up for it. I will sink you! I believe I have told you that most of my dreams are consistent with each other in the same space and time? Last night I gave you a tour of the house. We never made it to the theater (owned but not occupied by Johnny Depp), because you wanted to go in the scary as shit attic. Which is two floors. We did go to the gallery, though. You liked the stair banisters. :]
I used to, before I had my tonsils out. I haven't since.

I have seen the trailer. To see the film in full would be wonderful sometime.
What precisely were you going to tattoo? The word "heima"? I expect it translates akin to home? I always wanted a small smily face just like (: on my right wrist where there is a gap between the thumb bone and the bump of the radius. I also want a tattoo somewhere on my scalp where nobody can see it but me. Maybe "thingk" because the word means more and more to me each passing day. I also when drunker than sober once fathomed a vanity 'too which is less appropriate than could be said for a wall post. The former ones however mean a lot and have been pondered timelessly.
π: 0 β©: 1
WeirdAlbatross In reply to musicofesis [2010-06-25 12:35:01 +0000 UTC]
Yes, it was going to be "Heima"...root word being "heim" which means a home. The suffix -a is a preposition that turns the word into, "at Home." I believe there is an important difference between the two. I've had that same thought about scalp tattooing! But that one would be a Ray Johnson bunny. A tribute to the people who become ideas. "Thingk" would be really appropriate to have on your head! :] You'd just always have to remember to wear a hat so it doesn't fade...or maybe you want it to fade..
I think I can inference the rest.
That would really hurt.

At home makes me think of Welcome Home Son by Radical Face. Not as romantic, just a connection.
I would probably want it to fade. i thingk it is more about knowing it was there than anythingk.
It was going to be an elephant's head, so less painful, but rather, I don't know. I thingk it's funny but it wouldn't be a very big tattoo and I don't know how other people would consider it. Maybe when I'm old and I can keep it a secret.
Pretend you never read that.
Also, after I handed in my sociology exam, I realized that I had written thingk and amongstar on it. I could be joking, but I'm not. Which is both funny and sad.

It was the best! impression of Sufjan I could get, it's about the moment as much as it is about the music. Radical Face has a discography? I've only the one album. However Ben cooper has a number of projects. The lyrics of Electric President (another band) are really romantic at times. I tokd you I did that essay on them.
It wasn't a poem! It was truth split up into lines and rhythm! I'm glad you liked it though. Somewhere amongstar is giggling. (How can you put it beside the giraff[e]iti? )

The Fox one was gaBlΓ© and will no doubt be considerably harder for you to find (:
Needless to say that since I've got my new iPod, all the content on it is new for the most. I have yet to put my familiar comforts back on it, such as Ben Cooper e.g. Radical Face and Steven Wilson e.g. Porcupine Tree.
I agree, though I note that you do not need rhymes nor rhythm for something to be poetic, they do make non-poetic entities considerably more poetic in their own right. I don't gauge that amongstar poem to have been very poetic at all. Yet, being lines and rhythm it is still a poem I suppose. I prefer the poetic to the poem

Maybe you are in a new era of life with a new era of songs. I can map out my life and who I was / am, simply by my favorite bands at that point in time. When I shed my skin, I shed my music taste in a sense, as well.
Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Hellogoodbye, Landon Pigg -Freshman/Sophomore
Coldplay, Nick Drake, Guster, Mute Math -Junior
Radiohead, Guster, Beck, Sufjan Stevens -Senior
Sigur RΓ³s, JΓ³nsi, Cloud Cult, Dispatch -Gap
