No. If you're using the 000 buck .410 shells, they are terribly inaccurate at a distance of only twenty feet... which happens to be the distance that most armed confrontations occur. It's more of a novelty that an effective self defense weapon.

Muggers and home invaders don't stand off twenty feet. If they do, that's what the .45 long is for. I've got the two types of rounds alternating in the cylinder. God help the asshole who is five feet or less from me when the .410 comes around. Heh, as if the .45 wouldn't be bad enough.

You have to be careful there. With that caliber a court can prove "intent to kill" leaving you you unprotected by a justifiable homicide defense.
