thank you,now and again i'll sell a piece, but as this is a hobby for me,i dont get a great deal of time to carve due to other work commitments etc,early-mid next year will free a bit of time up for me,and will have moved into our new place, where i can set up a decent workshop,(as at the moment i carve with very limited tools in limited space)hopefully then i can put a few out there for anyone interested in buying

You know, I Think I'll just watch you instead of dropping your entire gallery into My Favourites. Awesome job!
Would I be intruding to ask how you carve these?
I try, but it takes so long! [link]

thanx,i started using needle files and old hacksaw blades id ground into different chisel points(and any other tools i could sneak out of dads toolbox and modify)now i use mainly needle files, gravers and an electric rotary tool with various bits, especially with jade which is hard and needs industial diamond bits to work,as for technique, its pretty much the same as wood carving

Your work is amazing and I know it takes talent to do carvings like that. I appreciate what you do since I enjoy a bone pendant that I was given by a friend (bought, not made), and I urge you to continue with the work

Beautiful carving! It's awesome to see traditional Maori art where the significance of the figures is understood. So often I see Maori iconology used in "Tribal" designs here on DA, without any indication that the artist understands, or is even aware of, their origin. The way you combine traditional carving with certain unique elements (such as combining the bone and jade pieces) is wonderful!
Congrats on the DD, you definitely deserve it!

thank you yes ,i believe in understanding the meaning behind my own artwork, especially with Maori,as it is a form of "written language"or story telling in itself,i wouldnt write a poem by putting together a bunch of words because the look good together, they need to be arranged so they mean something and others can understand it& appreciate it too

I guess your art really deserves attention, especially cause it is not kind of art which takes a few hours of drawing on a tablet. They are real things what you can grab, what has traditions looking way back longer then most of the people could imagine. Also I think why these things worth much, 'coz if U screw up sthing during the making of it, it is not enough just to push a ctrl+z.
