So I woke up a 6 this morning and drove a half hour to Morris for my summer classes. Turns out they start next week. fml.

Oh by the way, I've got you out-geeked. Lately I've been listening to Iliad and The Odyssey on audiobook, then reviewing each "book" or chapter on sparknotes for summary and analysis after listening to each one, for better understanding. Essentially, it's doing homework for fun.

I'm at the University of Minnesota Morris. It's in the middle of nowhere, but near my hometown, so it's very convenient. Also a high rated school and very green. We just got a second windmill this year, and on a good day those two windmills power 100% of the school. More than half on a bad day I think. Not much on sports though. Too bad it's a distraction from your art but if you enjoy it then more power to you. I've been trying to get in shape these last few years (getting close to target...) it's so hard when I was never much for sports. I guess it comes down to priorities, and as long as you plan to make your art a priority this summer, then I'm glad I started watching you when I did! Your psychedelic style illustrations are really great! I think you'd do well to try to squeeze in a drawing class if you find room in your schedule - how many years of school do you have left?

wow, that's awesome! i'm at nova southeastern university in ft. lauderdale..it's a private school right near miami and the beach..my cup of tea haha. good luck with getting in shape..it's tough but all about determination! what sort of exercise do you partake in? and thank you so much! i have this huge sketch book that i need to scan drawings from..never got around to it. and i'd like to take some art classes but, as stubborn as this is, i really just like to draw what i want rather than still lifes of fruit or something haha. and this past year was my first year of college but since i was rather nerdy in high school, i got a lot of college credit from IB exams, so i'm technically a junior

Wow! Good for you! Sexy talented nerd, damn, you have it all! lol, yeah still lifes blow the big one but they're only for the first semester more or less - if you can get by that drawing boot camp (intro, or drawing 1 I guess) you'll find yourself with lots of freedom to draw whatever you want, and way more drawing skill than you had a few months prior. It's fun, and worth it!

well i actually think i'd be able to skip those intro classes because of my scores on my IB art exam/portfolio..i think i'll have to look into that! it would be fun to actually be with fellow artistic students and learn something! i've just been so busy and i feel like my muse is gone..which is actually killing me haha. summer time usually sparks my creative side..probably because i stay up all night listening to music and just draw in my room for hours on end. can't really do that when i have to be up at 4am for practice haha. what kind of art is your favorite?

I guess I don't have much of a favorite, and not much of a focus either, I'm still rather new to art as a lifestyle. I went into graphic design as a career move and have only started learning about art seriously in the last year. I think I will minor in ceramics (new found love) and my major is Digital Imaging - a bit of a career move (obviously) I have already taken a digital imaging class (at a community college for my A.A.S.) so this fall I will be doing a directed study wherein I'm basically going to be exploring the possibilities of sort of hybridizing digital imaging/ illustration with traditional darkroom photography. Being given assignments has actually generated more creativity within me, sort of brought my muse back to life, and next year I get to basically make up my own assignments, and I'm really excited for it! I'm thinking of using these media to do a series that studies classic Greek statuary (for example, I'm trying to convince my very in-shape best friend [Marine Corps] to do some modeling for me as the doryphoros or discobolos, or other classical greek peices. He insists he needs to be in better shape for that, but I insist I have photoshop lol!

wow, i really like your thinking! ceramics and digital imaging..what a combination! as a photography buff, i really love your ideas! darkroom photography is something i actually started getting into in high school..made my own darkroom for some project and found that it's actually really difficult haha. i commend you! that's so exciting that you'll get to make up your own assignments - THAT'S the kind of art i like. and that greek-statue-photography fusion sounds awesome! you could have an incredible series of shots with that. my crazy hair would make for a great medusa haha.
