Hello Chris, Thanks for the fav. You are still busyΒ with knives andΒ leather! DoesΒ leather work easyer as wood? and do youΒ shape the knifes (steel) to?

Hi Henk,
.
The eagle is looking fantastic!
.
I have not done any knife making for quite a while, but when I did, we started with flat suspension steel and used a forge with hammer and tongs to shape it.
.
I am still doing a lot of leather work, I need to put some pictures up. Maybe on the weekend? (my internet connection had been playing up).
Leather is much easier to work with than wood (I think). You get much faster progress on a leatherwork project than you do with a wooden one. But like woodworking, you have to have the right tools. Things that I struggled with early on, are very straight forward (and quick) now that I have the correct tools for the task.

That's always the problem with making new things. If you have the right tools its often no problem. I just made a simple chisel with fileΒ from somthing that was made to be a short screwdriver, to carve scalesΒ on places where I couldn't come withΒ normalΒ chisels. Good luck with the leatherwork.

Hey Griffin, Thanks very much for that. It is much appreciated. I have learned much of what I am currently doing from a couple of Al Stohlman books, as well as getting some great tips off 'Satansbarber' on Youtube. His videos are brilliant, a real must-see!
It is so very hard to get a decent picture of the leather projects I have done. I am in the proccess of putting up pics of a couple of other sheaths that I have made. I am mucking around making different styles, to try different techniques........ and loving every second off it!!! Stay tuned

Thanks and likewise.
I went on a knife making course and two of the guys running it had made axe heads out of railroad spikes. They looked awesome.
