I personally just love gothic stories-- ocassionally to my own surprise. I wasn't expecting to like Wuthering Heights at all, but much to my surprise I loved it.

Definately read the book before you see any of the movies. Most books like that get a hatchet-job when a movie is made about it.

Erik is not supposed to look pretty and sexy, you know. I think Leroux will turn in his grave and sigh deeply and then say something like merde, but oh well...

I have never once thought of Erik as pretty, and sexy (for me at any rate) rarely has anythign to do with someone's face. There's this amazing invention called prosthetics, you know. I also find Micheal Crawford very physically attractive, and he was more than able to portray a physically and emotionally scarred character. My attraction to Erik is his torment and his genius. I would, in fact, deeply resent someone attmepting to "prettify" Erik.
