Hello! How are you?? I have written a journal about manuals of artistic anatomy and have left a few links with the most interesting images of every part of the human body... Maybe you are interested in seeing it. Greetings from Valencia!!

I think your artwork needs some work for it to look good, especially with perspective and anatomy. Since you're going to metrocon soon, I thought you would appreciate this and work on your skills instead of wondering why no one is buying any of your drawings.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ssahab In reply to knimble [2011-05-19 23:58:20 +0000 UTC]

When did I say no one is buying my art? I'd like a quote and possibly a link. I totally forgot I said that (if I did)!

I looked through your gallery and I noticed your art is very flawed as well. If you could give me a good critique on my work, then I'd gladdy tell you how to fix yours. Your composition and your color work is a bit amateur but I think with time you'll get where you want! Your anatomy could use some work as well. Maybe we can paint chat together and work on something?

I know I have a lot of work to do hence why every one of my deviations is either connected to a critique group or asks for critique directly. Please tell me what to fix! I love feedback.

You can also tell your friend that I appreciate her sending her colleagues to comment on my art. I sincerely do need the feedback.

Thank you! I really need to do more but I'm being sucked into the digital color world XD

I really love your art style. I'm pretty blown away at how you create environments (I'm pretty jealous, I can't even begin to make them lol). I look forward to seeing more from you!

Environments are so difficult! I have to battle with them every time, so I have faith that if I could finally knock them out someone with obvious talent like you can as well, even though they're totally not fun XD

I'd like to see more from you as well! :>

Aw you're so sweet :3 I think its my initial nervousness that makes me reaaaallly not want to try it despite how great they look XD I look at the blank sheet of paper and I have a herp derp moment

Ohh how well I know that moment! With the moon base one I gathered a lot of references for night clubs and went "Now which one do I like best" and emulated that! I wouldn't have known where to begin if I didn't do that XD

Now if only I can overcome my phobia of putting colour. Colour and me don't agree very well so I can't colour for my life.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ssahab In reply to Luddeagle [2011-05-08 20:14:52 +0000 UTC]

have you tried adding selective color and kinda keep adding it slowly to each piece?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Luddeagle In reply to ssahab [2011-05-09 08:33:49 +0000 UTC]

traditionally or digitally or both? I kinda lay down the base colours by lightly shading each part then slowly building up gradients and shading with darker colours or press the pencil with more pressure. And that's traditional.

I have no clue on how to go about in digital.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ssahab In reply to Luddeagle [2011-05-10 01:53:21 +0000 UTC]

That's new for me too. Traditionally I can blend in more colors but for digital I kind of do cell shading. I'm trying to see how I can paint better like all those people on the front page

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ssahab In reply to Luddeagle [2011-05-10 03:52:25 +0000 UTC]

kinda. I feel like with some practice I can get on that level.

But i think it'll take me a long ass time to get at the same level as maybe *elsevilla or `fox-orian

Luddeagle In reply to ssahab [2011-05-10 05:51:54 +0000 UTC]

They've got a lot of anatomical knowledge and technical skill on their side apart from knowing how to play with colours.
Which is why they are that good. A little extra knowledge in other more scientific fields gives people an edge since it can be cartoony yet realistic.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ssahab In reply to Luddeagle [2011-05-10 06:07:49 +0000 UTC]

Right. They've perfected their style. Ive taken a big break in drawing (4/5 years) and I see work like that and regret not working harder. :\

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Luddeagle In reply to ssahab [2011-05-10 06:28:26 +0000 UTC]

I feel like that too after not drawing for a long time after an exam month or something.
I get really rusty if I don't sketch or doodle something everyday. And it's not really an option when there's exams looming over your head and you've to study like mad.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ssahab In reply to Luddeagle [2011-05-10 06:32:19 +0000 UTC]

I always seem to doodle, especially on exams since it helps me take a mini mental break, but I feel like in order to really improve, you kind of have to make it a job almost. I see a lot of those improvement time line memes here and all the ones with major improvement are the kids who were unemployed and took a year break from school XD

Between school and work, im too tired to draw and paint on my computer for a few hours :\ I rather nap.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Luddeagle In reply to ssahab [2011-05-10 07:05:32 +0000 UTC]

I just doodle tanks in my maths textbook. I take art as a hobby, not as a course though. Those kids had quite a productive unemployment break. XD
I kinda envy those guys with timeline memes and improvement memes.

My parents don't really like art so all my old sketches are gone permanently. No chance of me doing a timeline meme dating 2 years ago, I guess.

My mom is the same way. She threw them out because they werent that important in her eyes. School > drawing. I just started scanning them in and letting her throw the rest out.

As I got better, I showed her how good I got and that it meant a lot to be, esp since I had the skills to draw. Maybe you can try that? :\ Now I'm an art history major with an art studio minor.

As you grow, the less authority they have to throw your work out.

Luddeagle In reply to ssahab [2011-05-11 12:21:02 +0000 UTC]

I still have to go for a business/economics course in Uni though. They want me to have job security in life and catch up with my art studies later (They'd prefer I not).
That starving artist stereotype is deeply embedded in their minds, I guess.

If I do get the chance, I am probably going for something like 3D game animator or animation or comic artist or cartoonist or something along those lines.
The guys who inspired me are surprisingly these guys when I was younger:
and and
I freaking love cartoons.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Luddeagle In reply to ssahab [2011-05-12 07:17:39 +0000 UTC]

Not sure if such an option is available in Auckland University.
Right now, I am in Year 12 of college.
I don't think they have a course for animation or art or graphic design or game design there. For now, I'll just keep drawing as a hobby. Too much commerce and business studies stuff on my plate right now.
