Ah! You remembered! And my clay is only maluable up until the point the heat from the oven activates the curing process.

I really like your sculpting style. I have to grab some of the Procreate and give it a try.

Tell me have you ever tried casting molds of your sculpts? I've been attempting latex mold and urethane casting.
My latex molds come out perfect but urethane is tricky even with release powder. Any tips for mold making?

superhippieman In reply to BrewBadum [2016-06-17 23:29:55 +0000 UTC]

The companies i work for handle the mold making. I've tried it once just for kicks....instead of Doing it again, i think I'd rather be kicked....

when sculpting your Β minatures do you do your initial sculpt in wax or do you use a polymer clay?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Its called PROCREATE. its an epoxy putty for miniature sculpting. 30mm range

Awww I'm just curious how to remove finger prints from my sculpts I used super sculpy but I only noticed after curing all the finger prints.

Start using tools. Usea wire frame ( armature) inside and mount itin something. And don't touch the figure as little as possible.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ThermidorResistance In reply to superhippieman [2016-02-26 18:14:06 +0000 UTC]

Ok I did make a small armature and I used aluminum foil to fill it out, but I have dabbled much with tools to sculpt.

Hey hey!

I've got some info for you that might help you a lot with pro-create (assuming you aren't already doing this, in which case, why didn't you tell me?????).

Mix in about a 10% ratio of fimo to some freshly kneaded pro-create (I've only tried this with classic so far, but soft may be a better option, will try and let you know).

You won't need to oven bake it, the ratio is low enough it will air dry as normal, but it extends the working time by at least an hour and makes it easier to push around and hold better detail.

superhippieman In reply to The-Build [2016-01-01 20:59:09 +0000 UTC]

I've heard that actually! i've never tried it. I should! I often mix in Aves Apoxie sculpt for different results. I'll have to try this out. Thanks man! and good to hear from you. I've been sculpting like a mad man which has caused me to not be on here much. Hope all is well on your end!

The-Build In reply to superhippieman [2016-01-01 21:43:57 +0000 UTC]

I've given it a whirl with fimo soft, which works better if you want to retain a sticky quality.

Not bad here, just trying to actually finish stuff.

I love your figures. I have a collection of Skaven (warhammer) and made some figures to go with them a few years back but in that scale the clay I was using was too brittle unfortunately. What kind of clay do you use to sculpt your figures if you don't mind me asking?

superhippieman In reply to AnyaStone [2015-09-11 11:53:07 +0000 UTC]

Thx!!! I use Procreate sculptors putty. It's an epoxy putty. Strange stuff to work with but is great for minis.

AnyaStone In reply to superhippieman [2015-09-11 14:00:46 +0000 UTC]

Never heard of that, I use super sculpey usually but some of the smaller minis I make like robins things start getting very fiddly with any clay... I might have a go at using what you use, see if it makes a difference with the smaller animals. Thanks.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AnyaStone In reply to superhippieman [2015-09-12 11:00:54 +0000 UTC]

Ha, thank you,Β  well I invented pym particles you know... Joking aside I've been sculpting from childhood so I suppose I got my practice in early.
A lot of math is involved, scaling down etc like you know. And funnily enough colors have to go through the same process.Β  In small scale colors of any subject have to be diluted/ changed to give the illusion of the actual colour that appearsΒ  in real life. And I never use black or white on very small sculptures, it's way too harsh. It took quite some time to get my head around it and study it all. Fascinating stuff really.

superhippieman In reply to AnyaStone [2015-09-12 13:53:03 +0000 UTC]

I suck with colors.....absolutely aweful. Black and white ismy Friend. The rainbow and its versitile illusions assault my cones and rods in a way that is barbaric...and quite frankly...should be illegal. Ill leave coloring to you experts

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AnyaStone In reply to superhippieman [2015-09-13 20:10:13 +0000 UTC]

Ha. Oh it's not so bad once you get used to it... ok maybe it is Β . Colours are tricky things to work with. The worst is cataloging shades but exciting when a new one is found... if you are into that sort of boring thing.

I'm trying to figure out your chosen medium.Β  I see some Super Sculpey in your early work. The grey pieces were done in....Apoxy perhaps? Hmmm...the green stuff is..?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

superhippieman In reply to caesar120 [2015-04-08 17:18:35 +0000 UTC]

Correct on the sculpey, but i no longer use itas you guessed. The grey is either Procreate, or a mix of Procreate and Aves Apoxie. Very rarely is it just Apoxie.

The green stuff is called....green stuff, lol. It's formal name is Kneadatite Blue/Yellow. I no longer use it.
So far i really like procreate. Im hearing good things about bee's putty, but have yet to try it.

hey there - just watched incredible your gallery again.. then something came to my mind- not a request, just a suggestion: why don't you craft an " attack on titan " character, like Mikasa Ackermann or Eren Jager? - Then, the person holding the mini sculpture would basically be the biggest titan of all times! XD
