# About me
I don't remember why I joined this website. I used to do 3D modelling and fractal art. My interests have changed over time, perhaps I have given up on art. Nowadays I enjoy photography, though I especially enjoy looking at art made by anyone but me.# Comments

Hi,
I was at Japan Expo at the booth just at your's left
I just wanted to say "Thank you a lot" for the "Bratja" CD you gave to me. It's really great! I love "Distant Memories" a lot I only knew the "Mon Frère" song before (That I told you I loved very much, and listen often).
I hope to see you and Agathe again at the next Japan Expo
Best regards,
Floriane

Hello! So nice that you reached out to me again, although it took me ages to see your message, so sorry about that Β°^Β°Β
It's my and akhts's pleasure that we could give you a cd. Thank YOU so much for the print that you gave me! (It was Edward sitting on a rock holding his clenched automail fist with his left hand)
I hope to see you too again at the next Japan Expo (we'll be there again!), Onne

Is there such a thing as English dialects in the UK? I mean the Welsh and Scots consider their shit separate languages after all
π: 0 β©: 1
steel-fang In reply to tails2k4 [2010-12-12 18:59:53 +0000 UTC]
Well not entirely sure. There are accents that come with a load of their own words and phrasesand there are many other languages people use around here, just within their own social/family circles (from my own experience I've been in situations where people have been talking Chinese and Filipino, so I have no idea if this is 'normal' or common or what lol).
π: 0 β©: 1
tails2k4 In reply to steel-fang [2010-12-20 20:58:47 +0000 UTC]
That's a cool answer but completely unrelated to what I asked
I mean I've watched too much British television to not know how some people have horrible accents and most documentaries hire some random Scotsman due to the rest of the country having a rough voice. My question had more to do with whether there is such a thing as English dialects.
and yeah I think it's sometimes normal for people to talk their native language when around family. It's bad for integration and most would love to throw them out but people do it anyway
π: 0 β©: 1
steel-fang In reply to tails2k4 [2010-12-20 23:17:41 +0000 UTC]
Err well accents and dialects can be one in the same right? I'm not totally sure on the exact definition of "dialect" but we don't have a completely seperate 'English' language, just some areas with different accents and phrases sometimes to such an extent another English person (from another area or background) it might as well be another language
π: 0 β©: 1
tails2k4 In reply to steel-fang [2011-01-01 13:48:43 +0000 UTC]
I sometimes do question whether I'm talking to an English person or to a Chinese person.
According to wikispam, a dialect is "a variety of a language that is characteristic of a particular group of the language's speakers" and "A dialect is distinguished by its vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation"
In other words, Welsh English is a subset of British English with its distinct words, grammar and pronunciation, which makes it an English dialect. Gaelic is traditionally seen as a language, but due to lack of uniformity, there's many local variations in Scotland which makes it more resemble a dialect.
The thing is, English itself doesn't seem to have much variation neither in England nor in USA. So I've been wondering for years how a language can be so stable to let all of its people speak exactly the same. The region where I live uses a local dialect which doesn't really resemble Dutch at all. Some jerks even wrote some of wikipedia into this local dialect [link] . It makes for a unique living, because friends amongst one another often speak dialect, while businesses, schools, institutes and other official places all use Dutch

steel-fang In reply to tails2k4 [2011-01-02 13:03:17 +0000 UTC]
Ohh okay? How does it make for interesting living..? Do you not speak any Dutch or just some other people?
Yeah fail short reply.

Nevermind the above faggotry.
I just had the most awesome course ever. I took a course in mouse dissection and I quite honestly feel no guilt about anything I did. In a way, I'm glad there's no guilt as animal dissection is of course a pretty important part of most research projects

I have no idea what you're refering to.
And eyes are surprising hard to cut aren't they? Back in secondary school we disected a sheeps (i think) heart and eye. It was pretty cool to see the lens. Do you take an interest in biology then?

tails2k4 In reply to steel-fang [2011-02-19 16:15:26 +0000 UTC]
Yes, eyes evolved to be very rigid and strong, partly because they need to retain shape under G-forces, but also due to violence of course
Have I never mentioned I study biology at uni
and HOLY SHIT YOU WON'T BELIEVE YOUR EYES, THEY FINISHED THE DOGFIGHT VIDEO [link]

G-forces? Like from where? I have no idea what stage eyes came in along the line btw. Were fish the first/original? Do they get much g-force underwater? Dunno if I already mentioned this, but I find it funny relgious fanatics don't like the idea of the evolution theory, which just says to me people believe whatever they're told first Fundamentally, the theory of evolution is "automated design". And I can't think of a more Godly way to design all the millions of species lol
Angel
Oh hey God are you gonna design all those animals and plants now? Cos I got this awesome idea for this purple flying hippo with bat wings, a top hat and a rainbow that blasts out its ass-
God
Huh? Oh err. Nah, I'll just program mutations into their DNA they should eventually adapt and survive depending on their environment or whatever

Well eyes are like a sac filled with fluids. Applying even a tiny amount of force to a bag of liquids will deform it. In the case of using the bag as an optical lens, the deformation will be devastating for the image quality. Even the tiniest amount of refraction error results in blur and in the animal kingdom, being eaten by something bigger . Oh no some one-celled amoebas have light-sensing organelles. Sensing light goes way back. Interpretating light as an image is relatively now and I do believe it started in aquatic life yes. And well, when a manufacturer is designing a product, they do exactly the same as nature does. They discard designs they don't like and select improved versions. Though a lot of people get angry when you call evolution a "designing" process
. You should see some of the pics they use in lectures. There's one in particular that depicts an experiment to limb formation where researchers transplanted numerous AER regions into a chick-embryo, resulting in a chick being born with like 5 arms. Why do this? BECAUSE WE CAN. No really, it had no practical reason to transplant so many limb-inducing regions into a chick embryo other than to have fun. I also love the xenotransplantations during embryonic stages. Due to the nature of the thymus, when you transplant cells from different organisms during embryonic stage, they will never immune-reject later in life. Chimera experiments like that have given some insight into organ induction
Though what am I saying. [link] have some tropical fusion

Yeah I have experience in crappy vision XD Probably not that connected, but I can barely form a response to your insane wisdomystical comments. And who gets angry when you call evolution a "designing" process? O__o Just because they associate that to religious people saying "LLOOLOLLO GOD DID IT"?
Xenotransplatations? Holy Gordon Freeman.
The most I know about the gene mixing and shit is that mouse with the human ear on its back and that goat that milks out super think spider web. Please feel free to endow me with further knowledge This kinda information I can happily make us of!

XD I'm not really pro, just a university student willing to learn stuff. Oh and I have about a thousand hobbies
There's lots of people who get angry when you call evolution a designing process. For one, you'll make anatomists extremely angry because they see how fail most organisms are put together. Designing implies a higher entity that bestows great knowledge into the world, while evolution implies real pain and suffering experienced by those who are not well adapted to the environment they live in. If you've ever walked through vast nature, you'll see the enormous amount of suffering, as carnivores of course eat other animals. I love the reactions of those how those who go on a Safari to Africa, they always sympathize with animals being torn apart by African cats and misc carnivores. Nature is so cruel and yet humans complain about their sore back and how the copying machine jammed again
Yeah, xenotransplantation is like the holy grail for organ transplants. Imagine an infinite amount of available kidneys to anyone who has had kidney failure! But no, it's not ethically correct to play god just for turning animals like pigs and monkeys into organ harvesting machines. What the hell do people think meat from the supermarket is made of??
Oh the mouse with the human ear on its back wasn't actually a human ear XD. I love how that image is used in nearly EVERY single lecture about genetic mutation, while it's not actually genetic mutation, read more at [link]

I need a precise injection of stem cells into my brain that will get me make use of my time and waste the hours away. How do you manage all those hobbies ._. I only have a few. Drawing, badminton, filming.. though a lot of my time I spend just imagining and designing things in my head.
Hmm.. to me I see that people would get angry because of semantics? I'd call it a "design process" in very fundamental (may be the wrong word to use) terms, but I'm not ignoring the facts that nature is brutal and ruthless. Neither would I say that the "design process" is anywhere finalized and probably goes on forever. I'm talking about principle fundamentals, I wonder how to convey something carefully so people understand/acknowlegde another perspective without shooting straight up their butts in rage. There are a lot of humans going through suffering too, but thats not really anything to do with evolution.
Recently watched a program that showed some trilobites perfectly preserved under really rare conditions in a certain type of rock and people use tiny drills (like dentist tools). Its like they're actually sculpting them and they manage to carve out these freaking little hairs somehow.
Wait sorry you gotta explain that xenotransplantation again. Anything to do with stem cells? And well with ethics everyone has different beliefs, however they came to be in their mind. People have reasons for not eating meat, its all to do with principles. I mean you can use a piece of paper or just spit on it, screw it up and throw it in the bin; theres no real difference, the tree that made it has already been cut down.
I think its just used to demonstrate a point. I mean I don't think you expect it to include all the bones and shit that is actually inside an ear. It could still be cut off and taped to a guy missing an ear though, right? XD
Ach probably should have added this extra thing to the smaller comment train, but whatchagonnado. Films and media really do have an intriguing effect. My sister (shes in secondary school) said she had a class about racism and some kids asked if a "black person could be racist to a white person". Now people call others stupid quite liberally, but when you think about it, is it their fault? Do they control their education or all the little events that influences them in their life? They control their learning, but even then you can argue about not being taught to "learn" or something. But blah thats not even the point I was trying to raise lol, basically in the media racism against black/coloured (sorry God damn political correctness makes it so awkward to word sometimes -_-), so you can only expect that kids will just assume thats all they will know about. Even then, I wonder why "racism" is used and taken seriously when its just skin colour, but then actual racism (THE FRENCH ARE SMELLY) is actually just hilarious. But thats a pretty poor example and context. Not to mention I find skin-colour racism hilarious because its so stupid, though making fun of people being racist is often misunderstood to be actual racism
