Conner opened the car door for Eve, allowing her out. “Thanks-“ Evelyn smiled softly, as she thanked him. He nodded, closing the door behind her. Eve was being drawn over to the pasture gate, by the whinnies of Cocktail. Taylor slammed her door shut, and walked over next to Eve. “She’s missed you.” Taylor attempted to pet Cocktail, who moved her head away from Tays reach. “No one’s been able to get this close.” Conner opened the gate, and cocktail almost ran him over trying to get out. “Calm down girl.” He put his hand up near her nose, and she shoved him away. The mare pranced out of the pasture, and right up to Eve. She inhaled a sharp breath, scared of this huge animal. Cocktail nuzzled her long lost owner, her green eyes filled with passion. Evelyn gave the mare a few small pats, carefully. Something was wrong, Cocktail could feel it. The mare flicked her tail, and stepped back from Evelyn. “Oh-“ she approached the mare once more, petting her. Something felt familiar for once, was it the mares soft smell? Or her fuzzy coat? The way her eyes glimmered in the light? Evelyn gasped slightly to herself.
“I- I remember.” She embraced the mare, wrapping her arms around her neck. A small tear rolled down her check, looking up at Cocktail, who was looking back down at her. Taylor looked at Conner, and was in shock. “How much do you remember?” Conner stepped up to the two, who had just let go of their embrace. “I remember delivering her, as a foal.” Evelyn looked over to Conner and Taylor. “I remember-..” she stopped, turning back to the mare. “That’s all.. I’ve been here before.” She stroked Cocktails face. Taylor nodded, having small flash backs of the accident just three days ago. Other horses had gathered near the gate, wanting out. “How about these?” Taylor pointed to the mares, filly’s, and colts. Evelyn approached the fence, looking at all the horses. She shook her head slowly, not recognizing them. “That’s alright, don’t worry about it.” Tay sighed. “Hey, Conner? Please go get Cocktails halter. Maybe we can get her inside her stall before you both leave.”
