~Huge File Warning!~ (Updated to add 2012-2014!)I've been meaning to do an art-progress chart like this for a long time now, but had no idea how to go about it. Then I decided to break it down by individual characters, to show how they've grown along with my artwork throughout the years.
It was a humbling experience to say the least, wading through some of my old sketches. Looking back at where I started makes me wonder how anyone ever thought my artwork worth encouraging! But if there's a lesson here, it's to never underestimate how far practice and determination can take you. If you have a passion for drawing, just keep drawing! One day you will look back and be amazed.

🤗 I'm happy to know I'm not alone in this battle of wills with characters I create. I write a lot of stories, and sometimes the characters are easy and they let me get to know them. Others, like a particular avian I know, are very difficult. Maybe it's the winged kind in general that are stubborn. Who can say? Your work is very good.

Woahhh! I love this progression. When did the Hair-feathers first show up!? I love them! Somehow I never noticed til now.
I also love the way you interact with your artwork. I can tell that these characters come alive for you, and through you. It's inspiring.
ALSO, I LOVE how emotional your drawing is. I'm not sure how you pull it off, but it goes so much deeper than simple realism. When I look at your work, I can "feel" it. It's gorgeous! And likewise inspiring.
Thank you for sticking with it! I feel like you're only beginning to scratch the surface of your fullest potential. You're going wonderful places! Stay passionate. It's really encouraging to see this kind of quality come out of a lifestyle of process. Makes me want to stick with it too.

I see myself here a little!
I admit, there are days when I get discouraged wonder, "Have I been holding onto this character for too long?" "Is this worth the effort anymore?" "Should I move on to "better things"?" Then, when I get his or her face just right and am able to capture their personalities in a drawing in the most genuine sense, I get this unique satisfaction that I seldom get elsewhere; this pride and joy like I'm proud of my kid or something ^_^
I've continued to develop certain characters of mine for somewhere around 10 years (I'm really not sure if that's how long it's been or not. I've stopped counting haha).
Also, there's this journey of learning about them on an internal level, too. When you think you know them, early on, you realize you've only skimmed the surface of what they can be...and, at the same time, you learn about your own potential as a person too!
There are some characters I have that are more of a struggle to develop than others. I know how CRAZY it can make you feel haha
In short, I find these summaries of your artistic years gone by very inspiring. Here you are, still developing a character for even longer than I have with my own, and look at what he's become! I applaud your dedication

Wow, this is amazing! From looking through your other progress charts, this really gives me hope for my own artwork, because it looks like I was about the same age when I started my own crazy journey into a land of characters and artwork for the book I've been working on during the same time period. I know my own artwork has improved, but this makes me really want to dive back in and really challenge myself!

I don’t even know what to say about this. I’m a little teary-eyed. It’s… humbling… I suppose you could say. It is just amazing to see how your style and talent have improved over the years. It’s also fun to hear about your evolving relationship with Morgan. But this is a wonderful example of how far passion, dedication, and determination can get you.
I’ve been drooling over your art for years and held your skills beyond the reach of mortal hands. I suppose that’s where the humbling part comes in. I got to see you’re still human.

For some reason he really reminds me of Murtagh from the Inheritance series... Man am I sad with what happened to that guy. Poor tortured soul. Yet he still manages to surprise me and do good stuff. There's something below the surface and the glimpses i see make me want to keep looking until i catch more. I think that may be why Morgan reminds me of Murtagh. I keep on wanting to see more

I think it's quite funny that most people start drawing seriously with manga, then get into semi-realism and then into realism. (I'm still on the semi-realism stage)
