Description Just took a new photo of the cabin where my dad grew up and where he and my mother returned after he retired from his vocation as a doctor.

The cabin is more than 250 years old (the original structure having been built well before the Revolutionary War.) The small guest house you see to the left is an old corn crib (where they would dry feed corn for the livestock) that was moved to its current location. It is probably well over 200 years old.

The cabin has been added on to and is now the place where my sisters and I, along with our families, go whenever we get the chance. I think we all continue to call it "home," not because we grew up there, but because that's where our parents live and where our hearts reside.

An inspiring image! You're lucky to have such a place to come. Americans are known to preserve their traditions and the property of their ancestors.

Thanks! Yes, most of my ancestors were humble mountain farmers, but there is loads of information and family lore. It's a wonderful heritage. Maybe that IS why I like history so much!
