Description "The Girl in the Fireplace" is one of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who. The acting is fabulous and there are so many stunning gowns to look at. I picked the first gown the Doctor sees the grown Madame de Pompadour (Reinette) wear.

I looked for ages for the perfect fabric but I wasn’t very lucky, even on the internet. I settled for a tan and teal fabric from JoAnn Fabrics. Let’s hear it for coupons saving me lots of money!

The pattern from the gown and the pocket hoops are from J.P. Ryan . The corset and chemise are from Simplicity 3635. What are fabulous about Ryan’s patterns are the functioning pockets. I was able to carry quite a few things around in my pocket hoops! I highly recommend making a padded petticoat from quilted cotton, as suggested by Ryan. You don’t have unsightly pocket hoop lines and you achieve a beautiful shape.

The bows are styled from tan lining fabric that was finished with pinking sheers and thick teal ribbon that has smaller cream ribbons glued on for the lines. The necklace is fashioned from lace, ribbon, and several types of beads. I was so distraught that I forgot to wear my jewelry for my first photo shoot. I was so excited about finally getting into the gown that I completely forgot!

Leonard totally knew where to find this fabulous setting for photos. The stone work is matching the colors so well it's blowing my mind!

Nice job! Though, the stomacher should be put under the dress bodice, not on it!

I looked all over for ages! I feel like I failed because I picked a JoAnns fabric. Ordered a bolt for 10 yards and thankfully had the coupon!

JoAnn's has some decent fabrics, they're just skim and far spread.

Just sign away a couple of months and anyone can make one. Lol. It must be much easier when you already have made one. The directions don't look as crazy!

And YOU'RE beautiful!

What a wonderful gown, the detail most have been a lot of work. You look beautiful in it too, I love the look on your face it is so arrogant as if amused by some peasants.
