Wow. I have just discovered your Deviant Art page, and it's really...deep. No wonder, I'm now watching you in this site, of course. (I love your pictures and where the inspiration for them comes, great job).

This story really moved me. I have never owned a cat long enough to know what you felt. With my two though I know I will be heartbroken when they go. But That just means enjoy the time you do have with 'em.

LOL, practice? That's pretty much how anything is done. Let's see, the best exercises is to learn how to paint first. Blending, using the brush (acrylics, although oils would work too...) Then you need to work with layers and washes. Basically, how I do the fur, is start with a solid blob of color and mix gradually lighter colors. Water those colors down to ink like consistency, use a small round brush, and paint fur lines. Every hair, one by one. Then again using a lighter color over those colors, and lighter and lighter until you have that neat layered realistic effect. There are a lot of WONDERFUL books on how to paint realistic wildlife. Those are really helpful. That's how I first learned.

Love your stories as usual! You should turn all your drawings and stories to go with them into an animal lovers book.
