Description This is the story of Aino, a beautiful girl from Karelian-Finnish epic song Kalevala. Her brother offered to marry her on one old mage in exchange for his freedom. But she couldn't accept this fate and believes that life at the bottom of the sea will be the best share for her. Before the wedding Aino leaves her home to meet the sunrise by the sea and perishes in the waves.

But, the spoiler, then she wakes up in the body of the fish

Was it drawn before it was painted? It’s so beautiful and the body language is really expressive. 💜

This has a nice flow to the scene, and I like the details especially those in her dress hinting about the life above the sea. You have such a nice story style overall, this is very fitting for Kalevala. To be honest I never much thought what her afterlife would be after she drowns but this is a very nice idea.

No problem! It's always interesting to see how different artists illustrate them. Yes, I know many Finns don't think Kalevala any special or give it much thought (it's a national epic and that's that) but I've always kind of liked that kind of world pictured in, and the poetic language is both funny and interesting to read. Though the most interesting to me is perhaps the importance of songs and singing there.
