This is a sappire and diamond ring I made for a local comp!! I came third! It is inspired by the traditional african headrest. My fiance! the wonderous wibbledile clinched second place! [link]Related content

This is very different. It has a modern twist to it but is still very traditional. Lovely

One of the major influencing factors in this design is the african head rest, which is where the army things at the top come from, I try to used african inluences as much as possible. This is not always possible when you got to make a dainty engagement ring

The arm thing is one this I like best about it. Jewelery to me at lest, is always more interesting when it has a cultural influence

With engagement pieces in south africa, most people want to go the wedding band route. which is not my fav, but its what they want. so you end up designing a piece with its band too

Yeah.....in general it seems people like simple bands with a stone for engagement rings. Boring...but you have to do what they want.......
