Description On a cold Very bloody cold Saturday I went down to the bluebell railway I had not been there for 15 odd years. it was a blast. This is Birch Grove a LBSCR E4 Billinton Radial Tank, No.B473. The trains were only running to Horsted Keynes due to ice troubles in the tunnel. I had hoped to see the two p class’s or Stepney running but alas no.

Video i made of the dayout is hear on my Youtube channel

I'd say you still got a good sight. After all, this was a cousin to the E2's, Thomas' class.

Ooh, one day I really must get myself to the Bluebell. Mind you, I keep saying things like that... nice photo, plenty of steam but not so much that you can't see the loco.

Well, it's a long way from here (my local line is the SVR) so it may not be soon... but one day!

It's a nice little collection they've got this time around. I was rather hoping there'd be five guests, as in the autumn (if you count the 9F, which was here all summer too), but the four that are coming seem a good mix to me. I missed the N2 last time it was here, so am looking forward to that too.

The A4 will be the big attraction for me (I haven't seen one since 60009 left the SVR some years back) but if you haven't seen 828 before, do spare some time for that -- it was the undoubted star of the show in the autumn, even with Tornado present too.

Last weekend was the start of the season -- every year it's at this point that I realise how much I missed those familiar steam sounds. I shall be applying for my resident's railcard when I get a moment (I live in Bewdley) and trying to travel a little more this year.

I'd suggest this:

London Marylebone > Birmingham Moor Street (Chiltern)
Birmingham Moor Street > Kidderminster (London Midland)

Avoiding Birmingham New Street is usually a good idea.
