yes, there should be an s on the end of light, but there wasn't room for one and I didn't want to have "drawin'". And yes, the + is icky, but it doesn't like &.So, this is drawn from the gorgeous picture Lights, Shadows and Curls by *donia , who was very kind to allow me to draw it. How lovely of her - go give her a coconut or something
Done in assorted graphite pencils (I can't tell you what ones, because I've rubbed the grading off them, because they are OLD and broken). er... I think that's it. Added a border in photoshop... slight colour adjustment, to make the dark bits as dark as they are on the original (lots of layers of graphite... woo...). I'm fairly happy with it. Scanned in my NEW scanner (yey dad!). Enjoy!
(by the way - I am aware that the far eye is out of focus. That's intentional

Absolutely amazing. I love the eyelashes especially. It's amazing how you can.. make it look so clean! (I tend to keep going over things so its all smudgy). It's absolutely stunning! Reminds me of Emmy Rosum for some random reason.

Thanks, I appreciate it! The whole piece is only 16 x 17.5 cm, or 6.3 x 6.9 inches (apparently), and I did it in the corner of a page, so I had loads of paper around to put my arm on that wasn't on the piece! I tend to start with the harder pencils first anyway, so they don't smudge a lot, and I use blending tools (those paper rolled up thingys I can never remember the name of) so it all tends to get smudged anyway. I use soft pencils last so that the most smudgey bits get done last, so they don't tend to get as smudged. And thank you again
I had to look up the Emmy - Phantom of the Opera lady! She's got great eyes, but the lady in this one is from [link] She's an amazing photographer, and very pretty. And she let me draw her, which was great!

Thanks for the tips! Emmy Rossum was just some random celebrity that popped up in my head. I've only seen her in one movie, "The Day after Tomorrow" and in magazines.

Beautiful detail especially in the eyes! The eyes look so real and captivating. I'd love to see you do more work with eyes..maybe images reflected off eyes? My only critique would be the curles at the the bottom. They seem rather stiff and take a little away from the beautiful realistic look of this.
Its really lovely though...I'd love to see more drawings from you!!

heh, I had some drawings up from before (only the one is still in my gallery though), and I still have some more to scan. I'm not really too sure about those though, so I don't think I'll put them up until I'm sure. Thanks though; I really appreciate the compliments
About the curls at the bottom; I know they seem stiff - they were slightly thicker than I intended them to be, which sucks a little :-/ but they were on the original picture I used, and helped get rid of some negative space, which was what was important

lol, no problem. you really should, even if you're not sure of it or not, cause artists are always most critical of their own work, even though tons of other people will think it's perfect, despite what the artist says!
